hello internet welcome to royal clarence marina and a little chat about immersion immersion is my new role play story and it's available for free at the moment and it's online and i've finally established a sort of working system things become habitual when you do them regularly we all know that and i was going to do an update every day for immersion but it's turned out that the chapters are so full and vibrant and exciting with film and gifts and um music and writing you know the literature the basic book that it can't be done in a day initially i was thinking you know do a paragraph a day and a couple of pictures sort of thing but now it's turned into a

really wonderfully large fat flowing work of art and it requires a day to lay down the key actually i was just thinking about what to tell you and how to um hello darling romeo has decided to join us because i've started speaking oh lovely boy aren't you um so today wednesday it seems to be the day that i choose the key and the way i do that i've already got my lyric for the film remember i don't write pop songs i write film scores but they do have words in but not many words i'm not interested in too many words the lyrics for immersion are all in the the story itself the literature that you read online but there are a few words because this week we're dealing with a death and um i do love a bit of operatic drama actually i've

decided and it's a wonderful opportunity when you write a science fiction fantasy to be dramatic because the whole idea of sci-fi is oh the cat's just jumped over the microphone go away the whole idea of science fiction i think is uh you know it's quite over the top isn't it it's that sort of idea that oh surely that that's impossible and yet you know we're making it possible i'm being very noisy here do you apologize the cat's just um destroyed everything i've got to charge there we go we're all charged up so um i i love this idea that i can uh suspend belief and really take myself and everybody else somewhere else and of course i'm a cellist a

cellist rather and cellists are extremely dramatic people we inject drama in every bow stroke i think we're more dramatic than violinists now the cat's going to eat in the background which is infuriating isn't it it's never a dull moment here when one is recording live from the four post bed with and there's a persian cat in the vicinity i do apologize for that funnily enough i was reading about the familiarity that podcasts have and how the how readers listeners rather really enjoy that familiarity because people are usually in conversation of course i'm not so much in conversation it's a monologue isn't it you know you're not chatting back to me but

there is this sort of uh conversational process that even when you're doing a diary or a monologue you want to adopt and i think that's a big part of why people enjoy podcasts so you're not getting you know when you watch a television advert you wouldn't watch me just saying oh come along to immersion i was thinking about this yesterday um you know we wouldn't have me saying um for example and you wouldn't have my cat in the background you wouldn't have all of these things on a tv advert it wouldn't work would it it would be absurd but it really works when you're doing a sort of...
