What a great week ahead my friends. Do join me and the cat for a natter over coffee and a catch-up for all things arty and nice.
hello gorgeous people of the internet welcome to royal clarence romeo and i are sitting in the full poster planning our week ahead i quite like when i first wake up in the morning to um contemplate the day ahead and while i don't like to be too too rigid i'm very aware of all the things that i need to do and i you know i like to be pretty on point when it comes to getting plans afoot and doing the things that have mounted up over the past week when i've been
embroiled in the benedetti uh sessions so i was doing this music thing nicola benedetti whose wonderful wonderful scottish violinist a scottish italian violinist a wonderful wonderful woman yes darling say hello to the good people of the internet um it's set up in her name and it's very well funded and it's an educational program for children and adult learners of strings so cello viola and violin or the valden as i rudely refer to it i do find them a bit overbearing the violins well there's two two lots of them normally in the orchestra and they're it's a bit all over the place you know they've been everywhere um and they have so many notes they give them so many notes so many more notes than the cellists get and even more so than the bassists get um so and they're very high pitched obviously the other thing is when you when you listen to music on a laptop if you don't have the headphones and you're not getting the full um the the
interesting bits of the bass you're not hearing them it doesn't uh it doesn't send in through your speaker you're missing it all out these low registers it's really important i think that if you're going to listen to music of a certain caliber i suppose was it a caliber i mean i i write music and i use these very wide ranging registers and resonances in my music and it's not particularly high for looting it's mostly for film and you know film that's for 30 years up so there's no point in being high for looting for that but unless you're wearing headphones you're really missing out on a treat i would say so if you can um because we can't all afford you know surround sound fancy speakers and what have you where most of us making do with
headphones no talking of which i bought headphones the other day i've got to take them back i bought those air pods i'll tell you all about those when i get my money back um and now romeo is going to munch his um dried food in the background you'll be able to hear that rattling away now all weekend or all last week actually i was working on these two pieces of music and let me tell you it's not long enough two pieces of music in a week are too much you probably need three weeks i would say to have something of pat well this is my second week i'm going to be really looking at those two pieces again the lyric for strings by george walker
and the host saint paul's it's called um which was a jig and i i thought oh i'll have plenty of time i'll do i'll start on the monday um because you know i've got degrees and things this is what i thought to myself i'll be able to do it and i was very wrong to do things justice you need to be able to play at speed as soon as you join the orchestra rehearsal this i did not know i think i thought that once you meet up you would do lots of learning and you'd do things over and over again but you don't you actually don't even though it's three hours each session saturday and sunday you may be taught you're really talking about the cream on the the icing sugar you know the cake topper on the basic cake you need to have the basic cake darlings you need to
have the basic cake ready at full speed and i was remiss i basically i was ready at half speed and therefore i came acrop her i won't lie i came a cropper so i'm not going to give up on those pieces even though the the weekend it was...
