In this Mandarin episode, I talk about consumer prices of things in China, as compared to the US, to see what is cheaper to buy in China and what could be more expensive and why.
Some useful words and expressions:
- 物价 (Wùjià): consumer price
- 刀/美元 (dāo (colloquial)/měiyuán): dollar
- 人民币/元 (rénmínbì/yuán): name of China's currency/Chinese yuan
- 斤 VS 磅 ( jīn VS bàng): China's weight unit/pound
- 倍 (bèi) : -fold, times
- 换算 (huànsuàn): convert
- 甚至 (shènzhì): even, so much so that
- 百/千/万 (bǎi/qiān/wàn): hundred/thousand/ten thousand
- 包括(bāo kuò): include
- 正常(zhèng cháng) normal
- 网费 (wǎng fèi): internet fee
- 手机壳 (shǒujī ké): phone case
- 普通 (pǔtōng): ordinary, common
- 人工 (réngōng): manual work, labor
- 安装 (ānzhuāng): install
- 空调 (kòngtiáo): A/C
- 奢侈品 (shēchǐ pǐn): luxury goods
- 进口 (jìnkǒu): import
- 交税 (jiāo shuì): pay taxes
- 高档 (gāodàng): high-end
- 价格 (jiàgé): price
- 名牌 (míngpái): name-brand, famous brand
