In part 1 of this Wednesday episode, we talk with Tim Salikhov, editor of the weekly Substack newsletter, “Photography on Blockchain” about why he sees a massive runway for growth in the photography NFT space. Analyzing sales and trends in the space is something he does for fun to fulfill his own curiosity and publishing his newsletter is a personal project he enjoys. He is working to onboard collectors including institutional investors and family trust officers. Some common themes he has observed with this group are that provenance resonates a lot, they need to be educated about the growth potential of NFT photography investments, and once they get comfortable with this type of collecting, they start to want to make early bets on emerging talent.
In part II of our episode, we welcome several Sloika-verified photographers to share stories about capturing the travel, portrait, wildlife, and experimental images they minted on the Ethereum blockchain. Recorded on November 2, 2022.
