In this Wednesday Drop Party episode of the Sloika Darkroom hosted by Pam Voth, we hear photographers worldwide share their 1/1 NFTs and editions. After a quick technical discussion about how to play music at the beginning of a Twitter Space, we dive into a conversation with Sloika-verified photographers starting with Houston Vandergriff, whose Twitter handle is DownsandTowns. One of the images we discuss was inspired by storm chaser and NFT collector, Leslie Spurlock. Co-host Subodh Shetty is gearing up to photograph the wildebeest migration in Tanzania and related a story about a domestic donkey that joined the Masai Mara migration. We also learn about collaborating artists, DeGods, Yoots, Degens, Bored Ape Yacht Club, and other activities on the Solana, Tezos, and Ethereum blockchains. Photographers are using innovative ways to release their images as NFTs including introducing gamification, perks, and scarcity. Along the way, several live sales happen and NFT collectors talk directly with artists about why they collected certain pieces that use focus stacking, Lee 10-stop ND filters, and composite layers created using Adobe Photoshop. Our conversation touches on Pope Francis, Kashmir saffron fields, cyberpunk portraits, getting laid off from a job, OpenSea, and Vitalik Buterin’s comments about the Ethereum merge, splurge, purge, surge, and verge.
