hello darlings welcome to the four poster i'd say i'm luxuriating but i'm not really because i'm a little bit um a little bit edgy because i've got a photo shoot later not for me for my bras i've got three samples ready i'm very very excited about those but now if you listen to my podcasts you're probably thinking that i'm one of the worried well and what ails the countess this morning and you'd be right of course because this morning i'm complaining of carpal tunnel syndrome which i've had before when i was in my 30s and it kind of went away so i'm hoping it goes away this time but it had me up all night with this really you know very painful throbbing
in my fourth finger now of course i've been sewing haven't i i've been sewing i've been writing i wrote a lot for uh immersion yesterday and and then my my rather wonderful 60-second love stories i'll do another one in a minute um so i'm typing type type type and carpal tunnel is something like three times more likely i think it was more than that in women than men and it's very um common likely related to typing and sewing and my mother who was a typist for years very speedy typist 90 words a minute she she said i mean you know the thing with mothers isn't it it's always true my daughter will tell you this they're prone to exaggeration i think she made 90 words a minute once and never again i think that that was what occurred there
anyway um she insists on hand washing her smalls every monday i mean goodness knows that's organized isn't it that's um but elderly people and she'll hate me for calling her elderly but you know we've got to admit it at some point i mean i'm elderly um they like their uh regulated timetables and she does her smalls every monday every monday morning and she does them by hand there are two reasons she does them by hand one reason is to stop the arthritis so she likes to do the ringing and squeezing but the other reason was because there was an incident i'll tell you about it please don't tell her i told you there's a communal laundry at her um a place of living and you have to go through the communal lounge to get to the
communal laundry which all smells lovely actually you can smell it when i cycle up and park my bike i can smell the laundry because it the windows are open you can smell the aerial and stuff um after washing their salt sheets no doubt oh god please don't tell her anyway she did her laundry once in the in the communal laundry and came out with her basket and somebody came running out and said in front of everybody in the lounge communal lounge are these yours holding up a pair of her knickers she honestly she's never got over it she was absolutely mortified absolutely completely mortified i can't remember if she said no i'll ask her she may have said no um but there were a pair of her more risque ones and at approaching 80 she just she just thought this was the worst thing possible because the lounge was filled with men
octogenariats who would judge her fabulous anyway um so this carpal tunnel kept me up all night with its throbbing and probably caused by writing and saying or weak i just think you know if it's not playing cello it's it's writing my book or um sewing i mean you can't not to use your hands but then i discovered that actually it's worse if you've been using bending your wrist and the reason it hurts at night is because you're you're accidentally or unwittingly bending your wrist all through the night and of course because i'm arthritic and everywhere you read about arthritis they say keep it moving keep it moving i mean really i don't want to
keep anything moving i just i just want to get lots of big lovely cushions and lie there all day not moving anything that's what my that's what my inner person wants to do but this i you know this thing you've got to keep it moving keep it moving i mean i've had to say to my ballet teacher i can't i can't be doing the...
