Such a terrible sensation from a seemingly innocuous problem.

hello internet welcome to royal clarence now i'm having such a drama i've got something called compacted ear wax and it's i thought i'd do a little broadcast actually a little podcast to explain all that i've learned in the last couple of weeks about it now there are it's not deadly it's not going to kill you it's it can be incredibly uncomfortable and you would think that a little problem like ear wax which is supposed to be in your ear anyway couldn't possibly cause this amount of dysfunction and discomfort i tell you what it keeps me up all night because it

creates tittiness is that the word tinnitus i don't know what tittiness might be but i prefer that word but no tinnitus and because i guess because it's it's pushing your eardrum somewhere and you can hear you know the blood and i keep putting olive oil into it and i can i can just hear things but they're really loud and actually when you go to bed at night you can hear this loudness and it wakes you up let me tell you it wakes you up all night and causes you to go into that dreamlike state and mine has got so bad that last night i must have only got about two hours sleep and bloody awful so i've been to the hospital today no in this country they won't do anything about it on the national health so you have to either go to the chemist and do something about it yourself now let me explain to you what the possibilities are or you can pay for it that was the the other option you can pay somebody to do it and i've spoken to

another nurse today i went to the hospital they were really bad you know terribly badly badly behaved and i sort of came out there in tears not really understanding anything about it but then another nurse spoke to me and she was much much more kinder and really understood what i was going through she said it can feel really uncomfortable and what it feels like is as if you were lying on the floor and somebody was sitting on your head but sort of sideways because the the pressure you i've only got it in one ear so the pressure feels all on this side of my face i mean absolutely it's really uncomfortable it's interesting because discomfort and pain are two different things so i you can't really call it a pain but because it's constant discomfort it becomes almost unbearable which is really almost worse than pain you know when something's chronic and it goes on and on now i've had this problem for a couple of

weeks now and i've been putting the olive oil in and it's just getting worse and worse and worse and i i've no idea why it just you know it's it's become something of a i imagine there's a wedge in there that it feels like there's a six inch ball stuck on my eardrum but you know what it's probably pea-sized or smaller it's probably smaller i mean i can't tell the the guy today at the hospital who wasn't very nice to me stuck his instrument in my ear and said i can't see anything you're compacted and i just thought well what does that mean so he couldn't test my inner ear or he couldn't tell if i had an infection or anything because he couldn't see anything because of this compacted wax and then he said he can't do anything about it he can't get it out it's not covered on the national health so what can you do about it well there are a couple of things i'm going to tell you you but you can buy um medical grade olive oil i'm not i think you pretty much use any olive oil you can also use baby oil and you lie on your side so that gravity is going to help it seep down and into the wax and what your aim is to soften this wax so that

it can be removed either by professional or by your good self now you can get kits at the chemist which are designed to flush out the waxy um it's a sort of extraction do-it-yourself extraction i'm not going to recommend that i think you've got to be a brave old sausage to do that yourself and i i'm i'm...
