Welcome to the world of Sarnia de la Maré FRSA, eco designer and cellist from the UK.
good morning wonderful people of the internet look the clocks went forward so i woke up and i thought i'd had a lion but i hadn't um it's all very confusing i don't know does that happen in your country i wonder the clock's going backwards and forwards we do it in the uk because um of the light we it gets too dark so we change the time we just make it up as we go along that's a bit like my life i suppose anyway i was i i'm troubled today over a fashion issue it's mother's day which i i hate mother's day with a vengeance um i hate it because there are

negative connotations to mother's day that you know when there are children who don't speak to me and i find that very upsetting um and it's interesting isn't it because the the pain seems to uh overshadow the pleasure and i have a wonderful wonderful relationship with my daughter and it's it's one of the most wonderful relationships ever actually and i don't know if it's accidental but she is the one of my children that didn't turn into their father so i think there's a lot to be said for that you know we like ourselves don't we and maybe i there was something there um that you know got in the way because i'm not with their fathers anymore
who knows i'm not this isn't a programmer about that this is about fashion and other things um so i didn't um want to talk about that at all actually but i have now but my fashion dilemma today is i'm going out later um with mum because uh obviously i have a mother and a mom

loves mother mother's day she's got two children they adore her and my mother's my rock of course and um thank goodness i've you know i've got a mother because so many of my friends i'm at that age actually where so many don't have mothers all these reasons i hate mother's day anyway i'm dressing up and i bought a wonderful skirt yesterday and i realized yesterday that i'm really really obsessed now with textiles and this is because my bra is launched today and i've been sewing all week my my um the studio the art studio has now become fabric orientated and when you work with fabric things become so um touchy-feely i think that's probably the the word you know you're touching fabric and you're pushing it into a machine your feet you're stroking the fabric as it goes into the needle and and the um you

know the footer draws it through and you feel it running through your hands i mean this is something you don't find with paint unless you're using your fingers to paint with because you're using a brush you're not touching the thing that you're making in the same way that one does when one's making a garment and then there are all the bits tiny little bits of flecks of fabric that are all over the carpet i mean i really should have a wooden floor in here it'd be much easier but you know you've got to pick them all up and hoover them all up and then there are pins all over the floor all these these really touchy things mind you don't tread on them might hurt yourself might sew your finger up by accident use a thimble if you have to you know all of these things there's a lot of touching and pleasure and pain in fabric it's and i i'm using fabric remember as a sculptural

in a sculptural way because i'm using stretch fabrics and i'm creating bras and this is really interesting it's really interesting how this a sudden obsession with textile has has arisen in me this week so now i buy all my clothes secondhand if i can always um i hate i really don't like buying new clothes and i've completely blocked now china from my sources so my eco ranges are not sourced in china and they've all got very special certificates that show they're eco-friendly et cetera et cetera um anyway i was out yesterday and i i bought radically different clothes to the clothes i've bought in the last two or three years where i've sort of looked at
