There are 4 lines to the Gayatri mantra. Nicholai Bachman, a Sanskrit scholar, says that the Gayatri Mantra is the "sacred mantra to the sun, which represents the light of knowledge." His translation is below:

Om Bhur Bhuvah Suvaha

Tat Savitur Varenyam
Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi
Dhiyoyonah Prachodyat

Om. Earth. Atmosphere. Heavens. Let us contemplate the most excellent light of that radiant creator who may guide our thoughts.
