Brilliant, and Needs More
We tend to wish we had asked more questions and gleaned more wisdom and stories from our elders once they are gone. I often think of things I wish I’d asked about, and it pains me to know I will never have the answers. We always think we will have the time later, but that’s never guaranteed.
These interviews are extremely valuable in so many ways, and Max asks very good questions, ones I wish I could think of. They hold these stories in time capsules for us to learn from, and help us rethink our lives as well as embrace our mortality; they can cause us to think about the path we are currently on. Excellent work!

Superb
Our culture — correctly — sees youth as special. This podcast reminds that the 70+ years are also special. This is a perfect primer in how to make these years special. A pity the series ended.

2923 Goal
I started listening to this podcast in 2021 after a cancer diagnosis. The interviews were calming and reflective. My 2023 goal
Is to finish listening to all the interviews since I got away from them a bit. I think I will make it!

Uplifting and grounding
I’ve never written a podcast review before, but this is just what the country needs right now. I’m actually re-listening to every episode. The host asks great questions, and the guests give thoughtful answers that all of us can learn from. The theme music is also just perfect. I hope they do another season.

focus on what is meaningful
I loved this series. Learned a lot from different people and perspectives. Grounding. Humbling. Optimistic. Wise.

Wisdom and hope
The line of questioning leads each guest to reveal their own truths about life. Thank you for bringing out the wisdom which comes with experience.

Súper, human
These interviews are so human and so superbly done. The choice of people to interview is varied and fascinating. Max’s technique is direct, even pointed, yet caring and sometimes playful. Max’s occasional foul language — and the peoples’ return cussing — bring a smile to my face too. So real! Love 70 over 70! And having just turned 71 (in disbelief) I find inspiration in many of the stories. Thank you!

The best podcast ever
Wow. I started with the Judith light episode. Thank you thank you thank you.
George Bernard Shaw Man and Superman
This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one, the being a force of nature, instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community, and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no brief candle to me. It is a sort of splendid torch, which I've got held up for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.

Last episode
I came upon this last episode and know I was given a gift because the timing is perfect.AS an 84 year old l am in a place where everything said was poignant and relevant.I just lost my 52 year old son while he was receiving a liver and kidney transplant. I have been a hospice volunteer but this death.was in my family and more impactful because he was close. My prefretting was always there but well below the service and I never realized. how much my grief for my father would be joined with my son.I feel I have been cracked open into a level of.honest authenticity that has brought me to present
time and and a greater desire to communicate to those I love !! your show! I love your program.

Such a sweet podcast!
I love the wisdom we can take, if we listen, to those who’ve experienced more than us. This same appreciation comes through in ever thoughtful question, and response from Max. Lovely.

Great Guests, Host Needs Better Qs
I love this host’s eclectic mix of guests, though I often find that his interviewing strategies stymie and limit the conversations, due to his leading questions that veer toward the abstract and his forced tone of giggly incredulity or wonder that strikes me as a bit patronizing to the folks whose experiences he means to honor. My suggestion: stop summarizing and asking for Big Analyses of character traits and make space for the guests’ stories, which will be more engaging than explanations and definitive answers. Sometimes the story itself is the “answer,” you know?

Ads
I punched up the podcast , but just listened to two ads that sound like the speaker is on quaaludes. Please tell me that there is more. How do I get past these awful ads?

Refreshing joy
This is a delightful podcast. Listening to this generation is insightful and thought provoking and rewarding. The host is so respectful of his guests and genuinely cares about them. This is a bright spot in today’s world. Thank you for honoring elderly people. I am only 2 years away from 70!

Thanks! Don’t stop now.
What a great program you have offered! Even though the speakers and I do not share life experiences, I can totally connect to their stories and insights.

Touching series
Thank you for this sweet and insightful series. As a person who is 8 years away from 70, I found it reassuring and inspiring. I think we all learned a lot, including Max.

So thoughtfully done
I have really enjoyed these interviews with a neglected portion of the population. I particularly like the thoughtful way in which the host spoke with his subjects♥️

Winners everywhere
I subscribed and I keep listening even though most of the interviews depress me. So much success. Most of the people I know over 70 are not faring as well and I’m not far behind. I feel more envy than hope. Something else to work out in therapy. Can’t wait for the next 70 Over 70 episode! Update: I think I need to unsubscribe. The interviews are too personal and some of the non-celebrity openers make me cry.

Great guests; questions can improve
Excellent pick of guests, who have made this podcast shine. The host’s questions are generally interesting, but sometimes it appears that he is restrained by his prepared questions and was pushing a bit too hard. This can seem pretentious and be a bit annoying sometimes. Other times, if it were not for the fact that his guests are wise and kind, the moment can be awkward, or even close to being intrusive.

Get This wisdom!
I appreciate this show so much! I take away not only insights that I may never have thought about, but the wisdom is priceless! They make me laugh, they make me reflect, and at 63 they make me look forward to my 70’s and beyond.

70 over 70
It’s a fine program with really interesting speakers. However I might have to stop listening to it because of the advertisements. The advertisements for me spoil the content, particularly because the advertising pitch, a rapid hard sell , is made by the same empathic interviewer. It’s like going to church and having the minister making a pitch for men’s multivitamins halfway through the sermon
Would it be possible to arrange a paid subscription with no advertisement?

Love it
So wonderful. Each episode is thoughtful and insightful. The interview technique is sweet and slow and deeply emotional. Thank you for doing this. It’s a highlight of my podcasts subscriptions.

Great podcast!
I love the idea of getting insights from those who have lived longer. This podcast is consistently well executed and Max does a great job asking empathetic questions in each interview.
The challenge is not to allow guests to just hit “play” and retell timeworn anecdotes, but to get fresh thoughts from those who might automatically default to things they’ve said before or fortune cookie wisdom.
I listen to the podcast most days as I eat lunch and always take something valuable from it.

Best Interview Questions
I love the interviewer. He asks brilliant, insightful questions every time. I just keep saying to myself “great question. I wouldn’t have thought of it”. Such a charming man.

Thank you for this!
I am so grateful for this podcast and for everyone making it happen. These are some of the best interviews I’ve ever heard because they really feel like intimate, honest conversations with exactly the kind of people I want to be hearing from. I am always in a better mood when listening!

Max Linsky the Psychologist
What a wasted opportunity. Continuously asks guests variations of the same question which resembles something like "How did that make you feel?" His interview of Dolores Huerta is a prime example. He asked her half a dozen times of how she "found her power". Enough! Move on! She has led such an interesting life and Linsky barely touched on any of the history or context of the events surrounding her life. Just relentless psychoanalysis. Same type of questions with Dan Rather and Dionne Warwick and a number of other guests. He has a knack for asking to the most uninteresting questions over and over in different ways. I have also been listening to him for years on Longform, which is a bit better, but he exhibits the same pattern of the types of mundane personal questions of his guests about how they felt about this or that. UGH

Great podcast, great guests, interviewer has room to grow into the role
I love that this podcast exists, and I’ve enjoyed all the episodes I’ve heard. The guests span a wide range of ages, occupations, and everything else, and all have interesting things to say and fascinating life experiences to share.
Max is an ok interviewer but he does create some cringe-y moments with some of his follow-up questions. Sometimes “why?” is not a good question when a person has described a profound emotional reaction or deeply personal decision, not only because it’s excessively intrusive but because it doesn’t really lead anywhere. Sometimes a pause to let the guest reflect and perhaps continue is appropriate. I would encourage Max to listen to a whole bunch of Terri Gross interviews for examples of the consummate skill he could aspire to. Keep it up, Max, you’ll keep getting better! And thank you for creating this series.

Love this show concept
Love the guests. Wish Max would allow the guest more grace. Allow a patient pause for reflection. A window for quiet unexpected self reflection, by following the guests lead. Lovely people with a gift of reflection of a life well lived. Let it be a hopeful message of courage of a life well lived.

A joy to listen
The wisdom and empathy of the guests is amazing, and Max is an excellent interviewer and host. Great storytelling, very chill.

Mixed feelings
I love this idea. I appreciate the interviewer. But some of his questions are just boring and even the persons he is interviewing are like
“What!?”. Also the clarity of the audio of the interviewer is super clear comPared to the audio of the interviewee. So it makes them
Seem somehow smaller in the process.
And “older” in a way that they are not!
Bubble but.
Please less ads
Podcast is interesting and has a variety of stories but all of the ads are distracting. I understand having a few but this makes the podcast way less enjoyable.

Great show for my contemporaries
This show has been so insightful and a true blessing for me and my friends who are of a certain age. I love that the conversations cover topics that people in their late 60’s need to hear. I also love the celebs who have been chosen so far. Looking forward to upcoming segments.
