Outstanding!
Love the show! Great pics on the one hit wonders, but I think you whiffed on missing 867-5309, Walking on Sunshine, and That Thing You Do.

Great Show, but Take off the gloves!!
Love the show, guys!! I especially love that compilation portion and really appreciate all the work Tim put into it. He’s great. However, he’s been way too nice as of late. Jeff and Ben have complained so that now the thing’s so easy. It’s like they’re playing on a 7 foot rim. It’s time for Tim to take the gloves off and really let them have it. NO MORE MR. NICE HOST!!

Still Essential After All These Years
The Three Friends are back and in great form with a musical road trip to various cities. Season II saw their Favorite Albums of the Year, from 1969 to the present. The producer/MC has honed his skills to the micron, the talent is on fire, and the format endures. It more than endures - it rocks. Album Selection opens doors for this listener because of the multiple in-roads an album offers. I didn’t, in Season I, tend to look to an album of an artist new to me if I didn’t like the Boy’s Favorite Song (my fault) but when he nominates the album, I do more exploring. Hence my growing list, “Thanks, 50 Years of Music” - songs I like, thanks to the show (and didn’t know). Also, I really enjoy the topics covered - what makes a good cover, etc. What we still need from the Fellas in Marketing: playlists from the Podcast. I’m working too hard with notes on scraps of paper.

You 3 guys are amazing!
Tim, Jeff, and Ben make an unholy trio of musical experts with indelible opinions and incredible knowledge of the back stories of the music and the musicians that they like! Listening to these three charming educators talk about their lives and musical experiences (+memories ) is a thrill each week. Their camaraderie is really fun. Even though I am old enough to be a father to any of them, I learn enough from each podcast to keep me coming back for more! Keep up the good work, guys, Singalong Bill Thank you again!Your last installment of season two is a beautiful expression of the effort that you three have put in for two years and the fun that you get out of doing such a good job at it. Bravo from Singalong Bill, once again. Good luck in season three, i’ll be there listening. If you do an episode on the “60s San Francisco sound or scene”, I hope I can guest, since I was there, then. Thanks again for doing the podcast.

Thank you
This pod is so good! The amount of knowledge I have gained having listened to the years up to 1990 is worth the time spent. Thank you for it all! Look forward for the rest of your content!!

Awesome!
I didn’t realize so much happened in 1994. What a great spin on the “this day in history” concept. Way to go!

Highly recommended
Updated for season 2: this show rocks and has staying power. Great way to take it back to the beginning and with a twist. Appointment listening for me and I’m surly when an episode is late and comes out on Wednesday instead of Monday. \/\/— season 1 review —> Big fan. I’ve told several friends and family to check this out. This podcast has banter, musical education and great humor. The back and forth is super fun and I love the different takes.

This is a binge-worthy pod for any folks like me who were late to the party. Do start from the beginning if u can as this show builds on itself.

Fun, opinionated and knowledgeable
I did not want to like this podcast. I have way too much to listen to now to make room for another podcast. But it turns out I have to make room for another one. This show was right up my alley - a lot of interesting conversation about music. I think it helps that, by design or happenstance, they came up with the perfect format for those conversations. Each episode takes on a specific year of music. They all start out with a bit of trivia about that year and they talk about the Grammy Song of the Year winner and the most popular song for that year. (I could’ve done without the Grammy pick frankly, did anyone ever really take that seriously?) They wrap the show up by having each one pick a favorite song of the year. Simple, right? But that simple format is perfect. It gives them just enough of a format to give them a predictable flow to the episodes while giving them enough room to talk. And what great talk it is! It’s like listening to three close, longtime friends talk about music, friends that also happen to know a lot about music. It’s fun and interesting, a combination that’s hard to get right, but one they definitely pull off.

Terrific project to make the world a little better
It’s obvious these three are educators...Each episode has purpose and intentional design with a healthy mix of spontaneity, self-depracating humor, useful insight, hilarious stories, and genuine humanity. Tim’s song picks, in particular, demonstrate the frail and unpredictable nature of our species.

Look forward to each week's release
No need to be anywhere near 50 to enjoy these guys take on music and current events of the years. I especially like when they reveal how an artist or song has affected their personal journey. Whether Tom Petty foreshadowing the future no longer available, or shared musical experience with their kids, or even a song whose impact comes from its placement in a movie. I hope they will continue after the 50 years are done. There is still plenty of musical landscape untouched.

A great listen!
I genuinely have a great time every time I listen to this podcast. I came as a former student of Jeff’s, but stayed because I thoroughly enjoy all perspectives on the show, both from the other hosts and guests. Funny, insightful, and engaging — I hope the show continues on after we reach ep 50! TL - Branson ‘16

Fun show
I’m 10 years olders than you guys so am even more of a The Who guy than y’all. Would’ve liked more Chicago & Steely Dan content for 70’s but I get it. As to the 80’s, how about REM & Tears for Fears... maybe also a little Dire Straights. After 80’s, I checked out, went Sinatra, jazz, etc. Really like show & format, y’all are funny, keep it up. Say hi to Glenn R.

Great stuff....but really Ben??
As an (almost) 50 year old white guy myself, every week I look forward to the music, chatter, comraderie, knowledge (both music and otherwise) from these obviously good buddies. This week however I couldn't just let Ben get away with his thrashing of Wilco's Impossible Germany. I mean really? Who will be M.I.A in 50 years from now...NOT Wilco or that song I tell you! That tune is transcendent and alltime great that only grows with repeated listenings. Sorry it's "mid-tempo". MIght as well take "Something" by the Beatles off of heavy rotation. Keep up the good work, Tim and Jeff!

Learning a lot over here
I gotta say, I keep learning new things from these guys. I particularly enjoy hearing about current events of the year and each host’s stories. This podcast helps me get through some weekend chores that I don’t wanna do. I’m from Knoxville where Ben’s wife is the mayor, so I feel like I’ve gotten so know a different (much more opinionated) side of him. I like this guys, too. I like all of them and appreciate the way they interact. It’s a pleasant listen.

Based on this fair and fun recounting of 1996, I plan to listen to additional episodes. Good stuff!

Walk down memory lane
It’s great to hear songs that I haven’t heard or thought of in a long time. Many great songs, some not so much. I also like hearing the history behind many of the songs. Fun podcast!

This Podcast Rocks
Love the back and forth bullpen commentary between the guys who love the music and provide time-capsule commentary for all the songs they cover. OUTSTANDING!

Every Episode a Winner
I’m a couple years older than you (‘67) and discovered this podcast last week. I am already on 1984 (just started listening to the episode). The 80s episodes are just killing me with nostalgia (I’ll refrain from naming for any readers). I have already recommended to my former radio DJ little brother and my buddies, who would have done this EXACT podcast if you dudes hadn’t thought of it first! Funny and LOVE the trivia. Great stuff.

Highly entertaining
Great chemistry and much hilarity. I have learned a ton along the way. I will excuse the terrible choices made along the way by Tim and Ben.
Another 50 year old White guy
50 years of music is a mood!
The kind folks of 50 years of music recommended their own podcast and I instantly felt transported into the record shop in High Fidelity (save for Tim’s more mainstream choices). They effortless combine good music with trivia, passionate defenses, no holds barred criticism and a repartee that can only be found through friends who get each other. These discussions could easily be found at a bar, backyard or the back pews of a church and they are a ton of fun. P.S. Given their musical selections and the constant discussion on songs that are difficult to dance to putting “white guys” in the title is a tad redundant.

So good!
Jeff, Tim and Ben have such a fun vibe. I love the digs at the Grammies and the back and forth banter about music, what constitutes a good song and why. Please make a play list to accompany the podcast! P.S. Why does that robot lady announce the artist before you play a clip?? Who is she and why does she get to be on the podcast?!?

Killer!
They say a good point of view is worth 50 IQ points; and this podcast pretty much proves the point. Brilliant, hilarious and informative! Love it!!

Music History Lesson!
This is a super fun podcast and the host sounds dreamy!

Let Tim live!
Ben and jeff have to have a little more respect for fan favorite and Everyman Tim Plaehn. Islands in the stream is the best song of the 89s full stop.

Really fun listen
You’ll laugh, you’ll agree, and you’ll vehemently disagree, but you’ll enjoy it. It’s a great crew for this exercise: two guys who know a ton about music (Kanye aside) and one guy who tried to convince a HS JV basketball team that heads will roll by the yeah yeah yeahs was the perfect hype song. It wasn’t effective, but ya gotta respect the hustle.

This is a must listen.
I was super excited to find this podcast and it rocks! The musical knowledge is top notch and the banter between the hosts is great. This podcast has introduced me to new artists and taught me new things I didn’t know about some of my favourite songs and artists. Keep up the great work!

This is awesome. Start Listening.
I didn’t expect to love this podcast as much as I did. But I do, I freaking love it. The hosts have great chemistry, the segments are well thought out and they keep the show moving at a good clip so you’re never bored. My spotify playlist has grown so much since I started listening to these guys, they’re reminding me of so many fantastic songs! If you’re into music history - specifically of 70s/80s classic rock, this is 100% a must listen. ✌🏼
