Child of the 70’s
I am a Ham Radio Operators like bob. I grew up listening to these great bands and never new Ham Radio is what gave them their sound!

Hail Heil!
Dr. Bob Heil K9EID is a legend in concert sound AND amateur radio! His innovations have benefited both fields greatly, and it doesn't hurt that he's a nice. humble man, too! The history, stories and anecdotes as told by someone who witnessed the development of 'arena rock' are priceless!
I have been a fan of The Who and Peter Frampton since my high school years (1974-1978), a singing drummer beginning in 1976, and a ham radio operator (N5ASH) since 2010. I own microphones made by Heil Sound: a PR30 for voiceover work, a PR22 stage vocal mic, and an ICM for my Icom 718 ham radio rig. They are wonderful in each application. This podcast series is my favorite, along with "Ham Nation" at twit.tv!

Thank goodness this podcast is back!
As a lifelong music lover, who's accomplishments will probably never exceed learning how to hook up a PA for my weekend bar cover band, I can't tell you how much I enjoy this podcast. Hearing the history of PAs from the humble beginnings is just incredible - Bob shows a lot of pride in his craft, plus the determination and willingness to roll up his sleeves and "make it happen". I'm so glad that this podcast has returned - I missed it while it was gone! Can't wait for the next episode!

Bob Heil as only Bob Heil can tell it. Great Podcast 10 Stars.
I was fortunate to get to meet Bob Heil last April. I really wish he had more time to tell me the stories of his years in the music industry and now I can hear more of them. He suggested I listened to this podcast, I can't say enough kind words for him as a person and as a person and as a audio master. You will not be disappointed in listening to this podcast. I can only hope he makes more as I can't find a better podcast that I look forward to hearing when I see it pop up on my playlist. I have kept every episode.

Excellent
The podcasts are really interesting! I recently wrote to Heil tech service with a question about impedance matching for a Heil mic and an old Kenwood boat anchor and I got a response from Bob Heil. I thought, is that ‘the’ Bob Heil and it sure as hell was. This guy is amazing!

Excellent discussion
Everyone who works in any phase of live production, concerts, trade shows, etc. will agree with me, thank you so very very much for all the unknown you went through, to seek & try what ever it took to pave the roads for what we have today. I have been a stagehand 25 yrs + IATSE
& your story only proves that you & the rest of the guys & gals that are the reason for the great live sound we have today. You are the music gods..
Thank you very very very much for all you have done... Larry Cohen

A Must-Listen for Music Fans!
50 Years of Maximum Rock and Roll is really something you have to listen to if you're a musician, enthusiast or sound engineer. (Especially sound engineer) Hosted by Bob Heil, who has worked closely with The Grateful Dead and The Who to name two legendary bands, he has some hugely valuable knowledge and experience and pulls some big names onto his show. And you can listen to it for free! I've just been listening to the latest episode, featuring Peter Frampton, and this show gives you some great insights into the industry. Bob is most famous for Heil Sound, the company that pioneered the modern sound system for a live rock concert - the template they created is still used today. I can't believe a true legend of the sound engineering industry is actually giving us his time for free!

Great Trip Down Memory Lane
A bunch of great stories of Bob’s days on the road setting up the sound for some of the iconic bands of the 70’s. Those looking for stories about the bands themselves might be disappointed as Bob focuses mostly on the gear and audio requirements of the bands. Mark @Meniscus_Audio

Put Another Dime in the Jukebox Baby!
If the first few episodes are any indication, Bob is taking his passion for Rock n’ Roll to the main stage! It only makes sense that the namesake for the podcasting community’s go-to microphone would start a podcast that kicks butt! A great podcast hosted by a passionate host. If that’s not a recipe for success, then I don’t know what is!

Stories from the legend himself!
There are two types of people that should listen to this show...those who know who Bob is (and are therefore excited to hear these "tales from behind the curtain"), and those who don't know who Bob is (but will be EXTREMELY glad they found out after hearing just an episode or two).
It's true stories from the "talent behind the talent"...because good sound can't make a bad act good, but bad sound can kill a great act.
Bob IS "good sound". Listen. Now.

A new “Talk Box” I’m hooked on
How cool was it to hear the story of Peter Frampton’s “talk box” I’m an old DJ from the 1970’s turned podcaster since 2012. I am a huge fan of Frampton and heard him concert about a year ago…still sounds great. I love stories of the great rock and roll greats. I am also a bit of an audiophile so I am really enjoying Bob Heil’s 50 years of Maximum Rock n Roll - what a treat. Thanks for putting this podcast together…I’ll be listening. Behind the Music - Crazy good
Bob is a natural story teller, and this inside look behind some of the most iconic recordings EVER made. Without Bob's influence and ingenuity, rock n' roll would not have been the same. Today, it's quite possible that Heil's influence is revolutionizing audio again, with so many podcasters using Heil products. Whether through music, story, rock or podcasting, listening to this podcast makes me feel like a part of rock n' roll history, and a part of podcasting history in the making. Worth a listen, don't miss this one! @davidrachford

Not quite what I expected
I liked hearing the stories of various musicians, but it seemed too oriented toward the mechanics of the sound and Heil products. For me, 50 Years of Maximum Rock n’ Roll meant more about the music and the musicians and less about the mechanics. @standubin

Bob, What a great podcast! This is history. This is amazing knowledge from a Legend about The Legends in in Maximum Rock & Roll. I may not be able to hear when I get older, but I will still have the memories of these bands and their music. Thanks for helping to craft those memories. @TonyWCMB
It is so great to hear the back stage knowledge. I listened to most of these bands and this podcast delivers the chance to learn more about the bands and their lives. Thanks, Bob Heil.

Respect for the Vision
As a gen-xer, we are just discovering or re-discovering for the most part that the true masters of sound are not only the digi-mixmasters of today, but we can learn a lot from the greats that shaped the world we were born into. Much more than just a dry look at audio technique, this series takes a peek into the life and times of those Who made it all happen. Just for fun: I made a ringtone out of the intro to Teenage Wasteland a couple years ago and still get a lot of raised eyebrows and cred for it but it just seemed so right to me, lol. ;) @JenniferKorstad

What an amazing journey and experience Bob Heil has had. It’s always great to hear the Discovery Stories, the sequence of events, that lead one down a certain path. The best ones are the ones where there is massive success at the end. ;-)

A legend of great sound!
Great stories that brought back memories of songs and bands that I listened to growing up, and how their iconic sound was often linked to the great work of Bob Heil. How we listen to music has changed, but the importance of great sound still matters and this podcast is a great reminder of that. Enjoy and subscribe!
