Little Scout:Live at Woodford Folk Festival, Woodfordia, 29 December 2014Little Scout were a Brisbane band formed in 2008, centred around the songwriting partnership of bassist Mel Tickle and guitarist Patrick Elliott. They initially pursued a very folky - perhaps even twee - sound on their first two EPs, 2008's "Dead Loss" and 2009's "Different in the Distance". Their later releases explored a more atmospheric indie rock dynamic, as heard on their two albums, 2011's "Take Your Light" and 2013's "Are You Life".Little Scout were a locally popular band in their time, and were able to rack up many major support slots for international touring bands including Belle and Sebastian, Sharon Van Etten and Placebo. For most of the band's life, Tickle and Elliott were joined by Miro Mackie on the drums. Other members throughout their history included Charles Sale, Nick Smethurst, Shem Allen, Laura Kovic, Michael Pringle, and Tickle's sister, Kirsty. While the band officially broke up in 2015, the core partnership of Tickle and Elliott survived into subsequent band PYNES. The two also play in other bands including Holiday Party, Relay Tapes and Rival Territory. This set from the Woodford Folk Festival was one of the last Little Scout ever played. We were fortunate enough to unearth this desk mix from the archives, recorded by the 4ZZZ team who covered the Festival that year.Recorded by Scott MercerExtra songs:PYNES - "Tarantino", "I Wanna Be Like You" and "Never Enough" live at Netherworld, 20 February 2020Recorded by Scott MercerMixed by Jonathan VirgonaSpecial thanks to Ben Gibson for his assistance on the nightOriginally broadcast in Live Delay ep. 373Show production, engineering and host: Scott MercerOriginally aired via Zed Digital, 7-8pm, Sunday 9 October, 2022
