Jazz House:
Live at Yonder Festival, Mary Valley, 27 November 2021
Meanjin Jazz improv outfit Jazz House are a four-piece who value collaboration and good vibes above all else. They regularly gig with other bands and have a strong musical philosophy that can be summed up in their own words, 'The Jazz House sound takes all that has come before, and feeds it through an exchange and development of ideas and energy between everyone in a space - the artist and listener both experiencing the journey together as it evolves in the moment.' This episode of Live Delay features Jazz House playing a single track 'Journey Into The Peace Within', at the Yonder Festival Speigeltent on the 27th of November 2021.

Platonic Sex:
Live at Sonic Masala Fest, The Triffid, Newstead, 13 August 2022
Queer alt-rockers Platonic Sex are next up on the Live Delay roster. They are the main project of frontperson Bridget Brandolini, who describe their band's output as 'rogue Thrash-Folk', and there are certainly parallels that could be made between Platonic Sex and the emotive force of Camp Cope or The Smith Street Band. Hear them recorded live at the Triffid for Sonic Masala Fest on the 13th of August 2022.

Sahara Beck:
Live at the Yonder Festival Speigeltent, Mary Valley, 27 November 2021
Sunshine Coast indie-pop artist Sahara Beck is a genre chameleon whose star is well and truly on the rise. Now managed by Secret Sounds, aka the folks behind Splendour in the Grass, Beck is poised to break into the mainstream consciousness after building up 8 singles and 2 EP releases since 2019; all of them demonstrating a radical departure from her earlier works and first full album, 2016's Panacea. Now inspired by iconoclasts like David Byrne and St. Vincent, Beck has transformed from a teenage song writing prodigy to a performance-oriented pop auteur in her first decade as a recording artist. Beck is a crowd pleaser, and sometimes the performative aspect of a talent is lost in translation on studio recordings - this episode features a live performance from Sahara Beck, recorded at the Yonder Festival Speigeltent on the 27th of November, 2021.

Total Pace:
Live at the Zoo, Fortitude Valley, 9 December 2022
Just another four-part Frankenband from Meanjin? No. With their powers combined, Branko Cosic (Tape/Off, Gold Stars), Luke Henery (Violent Soho), Simon Ridley (DZ Deathrays, Velociraptor) and Mathew Somers (I Heart Hiroshima) are TOTAL PACE. When they're not chugging away at their own brand of DIY punk, they're chugging beers and getting ready to take over the world. Specifically, that part of the world where they keep the beer. Total Pace are one of those supergroup side-projects with a mind of its own, this episode we've captured them at an incandescent high playing at The Zoo for that venue's 30th birthday celebration in December of 2020.

WHALEHOUSE & GUNK:
Live at Netherworld, Fortitude Valley, 30 October 2022
This is episode 414 of Live Delay and we’re featuring two sets from two Meanjin Punk Rock legends, WHALEHOUSE and GUNK, both one word - all caps. This recording was taken at a special reunion Halloween party held in honour of GUNK on the 30th of October in 2022. WHALEHOUSE are a relatively new local band, imagine an unhinged all-female Devo. They’re fun, they’re weird and they have a thing for large subaquatic fauna. This episode's second set is from local Riot Grrl punk band GUNK, they initially made waves in Meanjin-Brisbane’s scene back in 2012 with the release of their self-titled EP and 2013 album ‘Sugarsoap’, GUNK had since broken up and remained on hiatus for years before the reunion gig we were lucky enough to record in October of 2022.

2022 Year in Review:
Our last episode for the year is a compilation of the absolute best tracks broadcast in 2022 on 4zzz's own Live Delay program, the show dedicated to delivering the best of Meanjin-Brisbane's live music scene from the live stage to the mixing desk to your living room/car/wherever you catch your 4zzz's. Many of the broadcast's this year have been hidden gems from years long gone and pre-pandemic shows, but a few green shoots are emerging from the last few years of COVID chaos and live music is officially back in town.
Our year in review episode for 2022 features tracks from An Horse, Little Scout, Bad Sext, Double Bummer, Monet's Pond, Ed Kuepper, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Some Jerks, Full Power Happy Hour, Waveney Yasso, Bob Weatherall, Halfway and William Barton.
Special thanks to the legion of volunteers that it takes to produce this program each year, we'll see you all next year!
