Gravel Samwidge:Live at The Triffid, Newstead, 12 December 2019Previously featured way back in episode 63 of Live Delay, Gravel Samwidge formed in 1989 when Mark Spinks and Paul Curran from punk band The Nappy Hackers wanted to explore a new musical direction. Forming initially in Sydney, the band had many lineup changes and guest musicians as they went through stints in Melbourne and Townsville before settling in Brisbane. Spinks has been the sole mainstay on guitar and vocals, and the current version of the band stabilised in 2008 with the rhythm section of Ash Jenkins on bass and Alex "Sleepy" Morrison on drums. Over the past decade Gravel Samwidge have often been joined by Matt Kennedy on second guitar, as you'll hear in this set. While not recording much for the first half of their career, the band have released a healthy string of records and EPs since 2009, the most recent being the 2021 album "Complaints".Recorded by Taine JosephsonMixed by Finn DigglesExtra songs:Mitch, Please - "Rubbish" live at the Sherpa Stage, Sonic Masala Fest, 14 August 2021Recorded by Scott MercerMixed by Branko CosicOriginally broadcast in Live Delay ep. 377HEADLICE - "I Hope You Get Injured" live at the Sherpa Stage, Sonic Masala Fest, 14 August 2021Recorded by Scott MercerMixed by Branko CosicOriginally broadcast in Live Delay ep. 377Fat - "When's It Gonna Rain" live at The Foundry, 23 November 2019Recorded by Taine JosephsonMixed by Harry McKenzieOriginally broadcast in Live Delay ep. 368Bum Spa - "Fantasy World" live at The Bearded Lady, 7 November 2019Recorded by James Walker & Scott MercerMixed by Joe McCormackOriginally broadcast in Live Delay ep. 368Show production, engineering and host: Scott MercerOriginally aired via Zed Digital, 7-8pm, Sunday 27 March, 2022
