Mostly good content
Hey. This show has some good content and sporadically does a deep dive on watches but there are a few things that need improvement. First, stop coughing into the microphone, just turn it off to clear your throat (announcing 101). Less banter about your personal lives, this is not a bro phone call, just talk to each other before the podcast to catch up on the private happenings and finally, and this has improved, less use of the F word as an adjective to describe everything. Focus on fine tuning the content and please, get your throat checked out.

Best Watch Podcast on Earth
The Best Watch Podcast on Earth (Possibly the Universe)
If you like watches—even a little—“40 and 20” is not optional listening. It’s mandatory. Like setting the time on a perpetual calendar: you could ignore it, but you’d be wrong.
This podcast is what happens when deep horological knowledge, real-world collecting experience, and zero interest in taking themselves seriously collide at full speed. One minute you’re learning something genuinely insightful about movements, design philosophy, or brand history, and the next minute you’re laughing because someone just compared a watch purchase decision to a midlife crisis with better resale value.
The chemistry is effortless. It feels less like a podcast and more like you’re sitting at a table with two friends who:
• know way too much about watches
• have owned (and flipped) enough pieces to earn emotional scars
• and are absolutely willing to roast themselves, the industry, and occasionally you, the listener
They manage the impossible balance of being credible without being pretentious. No gatekeeping. No hype-for-hype’s-sake. Just honest takes, strong opinions, and humor sharp enough to scratch sapphire.
Whether you’re into luxury pieces, tool watches, collecting mistakes you swear were “learning experiences,” or just enjoy hearing grown adults argue passionately about millimeters and bracelets—this is the podcast.
In short:
“40 and 20” isn’t just the best watch podcast.
It’s the podcast that makes you check your wrist, your bank account, and your life choices—usually in that order.
Highly recommended.
Set your time. Press play. Don’t blame them when you start “just browsing” watch listings afterward.

Gets bogged down
The watch content is pretty good but sometimes their banter gets bogged down by corny, unfunny joke premises. In the episode I just listened to, one of them was talking about smoking meat and said that there is a cut of meat that they don’t sell anymore (or something like that) and the other jumped in and said something about a glory hole? Then they went on for a few more seconds joking about a glory hole? It was just kind of lame and made me turn it off, not because I’m offended or anything of that sort but because it’s just idle filler….like, let’s go guys, glory holes aren’t funny.

Smart, funny, perfect team work?
This is a no nonsense podcast that has a ton of nonsense. The two host couldn’t be more alike and at the same time, more diverse in their taste. The banter they exchange is what makes this a great show. Come for the watches, stay for the people.

Best watch podcast
I’m calling this the best watch podcast for Americans, which sounds weird, I’m sure. I just can’t listen to someone with a french (swiss?) accent talk about anything really. They just sound so pretentious. In general the brits and scots do as well. Basically I’m endorsing this podcasts because it’s people who sound like me talking about watches.

Stop with the thickness
Guys in this episode you said that legibility doesn't matter (which is nuts) and continually whine when divers and regulators are 12.5mm to 13mm. Get a grip thickness isn't be all end all.

40 and 20: The Watch Thinner Podcast
This is an okay podcast is the world of watch podcasting. There is quite a bit of moaning about the thickness of watches, which I understand to an extent. Sometimes it is a little over the top when they are moaning about a dive watch being too thick or asking for sub 10mm watches in the affordable range.
It seems silly to say “This 300m dive watch is an absolute CHUNK, but at 13mm it’s just too thick. It would be great if it were somewhere around 11mm thick and if it had just 110m of water resistance because nobody actually needs anything more waterproof than 11atm, also have you heard of the Foster 11 Atmos? It’s the number 1 best watch of 2023 as voted by myself and also the owner of Foster watch co, Me.”
I do listen to the podcast and it does have some entertainment value to it. They love their microbrands (literally, have you heard of Foster watch company?) but they also give Seiko a fair amount of grief along with a lot of the other big brands and tend to praise many micros.

Wow. Not just putting out sub par audio, but then blaming the listeners. Gross.

Out of all the watch podcasts I listen to, this is one of them
Since about 2014, when I abandoned Comedy Bang Bang and decided to become an adult at roughly the age of 30, I’ve listened to most podcasts at 1.5x. In fact, I believe most podcasts should come with a suggested speed (NPR/News is perfect at 1.5, any comedy podcast is good at 2x much like SNL would be were that an option.
This podcast, which I frequently confuse for The Grey Nato, would be perfect at 1.25x. Unfortunately, that’s not an option. At 1.5x, the crack of beer cans sounds a bit like a gunshot to me so I’m stuck at 1x. That’s good enough.
Look, I’ll level with you: it was either this podcast or The Grey Nato that asked for some positive feedback and a few words. I couldn’t tell you the names of the two fellows who host this, I believe one of them is balding, and I think one of them mentioned an unsightly mole. It doesn’t matter. To me, at any rate. They seem like they’re at leisure.
Star ratings are for sad internet movie critics but I’ll give this one a 5 either because they or The Grey Nato asked me to. Apologies if I’ve got the wrong podcast.
Enjoy the beers. Liked the sapphire episode. Unless that was the other podcast.

The best watch podcast AND other things
The 40 and 20 Podcast very quickly became my favorite podcast. Andrew and Everett make the perfect hosting team and I look forward to each episode.

Everyday guys talking everyday watches... and other stuff we like.
Do it! Subscribe! Just do it!
Given the fact I have a 1.5 hour drive to work, Andrew and Everett’s podcast make the time fly by. These two friends cover fun topics in horology, “other things we like”, and have a friendly banter that makes you feel as if they’re sitting in the car with you. They really do! I even find myself merging into the carpool lane thinking they’re in here. Don’t give me a ticket Andrew.
Seriously do yourself a favor, subscribe to the podcast. Leave a review. Smash that like and do all the things you’re supposed to.

Come for the watches. Stay for “the other things”
The 40and20 podcast strikes just the right balance of humor, knowledge, camaraderie and fun to make it one of the most enjoyable podcasts you can find. And it’s not just about watches, although you will get plenty of watch content. It’s also about the “other things”. Like flashlights, camping gear, boots, MSG cooking tips, running, beer, movie reviews, tv reviews. That could all be in one episode. Andrew and Everett make you feel like the lucky bartender who gets two smart, funny guys in front of the taps as you start your shift. They do a really good job of hiding how smart they are so you can pour them some pints, enjoy the banter, and go along for the ride. Listen. You won’t regret it. BT, California

My favorite...
This is my favorite “watch” podcast. Great mix of watch hobby content and guests with other topics sprinkled in. A realistic take on enjoying and collecting watches without depriving your kids of a college education.

Love this podcast
I have been listening to the 40 and 20 podcast for about 1 year. This is one of my favorites when it comes to watch-related podcasts. Andrew and Everett do an excellent job with variety. I enjoy the interviews with independent watch brand owners. Watch knowledge is presented in a fun and approachable manner. I look foward to the “other stuff” just as much as the main topic. Tons if recommendation on shows, movies, cooking, food, and other products that all of us listening to this podcast regularly love. Keep up the good work gentlemen.

Great stuff! Awesome interviews and hilarious dudes
One of my favorite podcasts. The guys are hilarious and knowledgeable, and they do great interviews! I appreciate that they focus (largely) on the more affordable end of the watch market.

My Favorite Watch Podcast!!!
This is a fantastic podcast for the watch enthusiast. Andrew and Everett are knowledgeable, but don’t put you to sleep. Very funny and entertaining. They always have a great topic to discuss, or have on someone cool to interview, like a micro brand owner. Great podcast!!!

Very interesting
The lasted episode had a very interesting comparison between Myota vs Celina vs N series movements. Every horological posdcast reviews the aesthetics of the watch but it was appreciated that they went a little deeper. I hope they continue to incorporate the technology in future episodes.

Love it!
Everett and Andrew have an easy rapport that makes listening enjoyable. Their banter is light-hearted and helps a listener connect to them, but is also kept shorter compared to some other podcasts. And let’s not forget the awesome watch content!

Olympus is not dead!!!! They have been sold!!!
They have new cameras and lenses out and just released a 8000 thousand dollar lens. Need to be really careful when you say such things
True Liberty
Neat idea but
Bemoaning an hour is too short to properly give attention to a watch and then wasting 17 minutes on pointless banter about your weekend is a bad start.
Another podcast built on the faulty assumption that a little bit of knowledge, a lot of enthusiasm, and a computer is all you need to produce worthwhile content.

So great
As a newbie watch enthusiast, I’ve learned so much from these guys, and they’re very entertaining as an added treat! I enjoy their interactions with each other. The “Other Things” segment at the end of the podcast is a great bonus. I’ve made a couple of non-watch purchases based on their recommendations. I’ve gone back to episode 1 to make sure I haven’t missed anything that would interest me. Thanks Andrew and Everett!

A sensible approach
I love this pod. Their best cheap watches episode was the foundation for my watch box.

Wanted to like it. They’re just unfocused & not funny.

Average Joes Podcast
In a world full of podcasts about Omegas and Rolexes and watches I’ll never be able to afford, it’s nice to listen to guys like me who love watches, and appreciate the small details.

Fun and insightful
These guys do an excellent job with having fun while sharing insights and likes about all sorts of watches. I’ve learned a lot listening to them. They even get me to laugh out loud occasionally!
One thing I did NOT appreciate was the insult to wheel of time in a recent episode. Guys, the wheel of time book series does get slow in the middle, but if you wait it out, the payoff is HUGE.
Also, what’s the best way to connect with the hosts?

I tried
I couldn’t stay focused, and maybe it’s because they seemed to be off topic for a lot of the pod. And the, what sounded like, consistent Rips of a vape (?) was a pretty lame thing to listen to.

Want to like it
I love watches so I subscribed to a few podcasts and listen regularly. I want to like 40and20 but for some reason I just can't listen to the whole podcast. The content lack focus and depth. I hope they will improve over time.

Really Enjoying It
I was looking around for a new watch podcast to listen to. Something fun but casual and keeping to my interests. Many watch podcasts get so deep that they lose me. This one has been great so far. Keep it up, y’all

Just what I wanted!
Great new podcast covering affordable watches! Hosts are entertaining, though they need to work on their sound levels - voices dropping in and out (mumbling, etc. ). But overall, great start!
