The Gallipoli Campaign was a major military operation during the First World War. It was an attempt by the Allied forces to gain access to the Ottoman Empire and the Black Sea. The campaign was fought on the Gallipoli Peninsula in modern-day Turkey and lasted from April 1915 to January 1916.
