Arthur and Jason
2 old friends talk about politics, the news and other stuff.
2PP132 – 16 May 2020
This episode was delayed, yet again, because Arthur didn’t have enough time. Anyway, here we are—were? Today’s chat was about the changes to New Zealand’s Covid-19 Alert Level (from 3 down to 2), and what that means. Things will change for us all. The differences in the way NZ and the USA handled the pandemic are huge, but New Zealand has no community transmission, which is very different all by itself. We talk about problems and potential effects of all this for both countries. Let us know what you think! Everyone’s welcome to leave a comment, agree or disagree. 2PP131 – 5 May 2020
This episode was recorded only two weeks ago! Editing was the holdup, as always. Today’s chat was about all sorts f stuff, most of it around the current crisis. As before, Arthur offers some information about what’s happening in New Zealand. Let us know what you think! Everyone’s welcome to leave a comment, agree or disagree. 2PP130 – 8 April 2020
This episode was recorded early April, a week after Episode 129, but Arthur caught a cold and wasn’t able to do the editing. We decided to post this episode anyway, but a newer one will be posted in a day or two. Jason starts off talking about applying for unemployment compensation, like millions of other Americans. That leads us to talk about whether the US can get through this, particularly political incompetence and malfeasance in the USA. Arthur talks a bit about how New Zealand has faced the crisis very differently, including a very important statement from Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. Arthur comments the real importance of her statement. Everyone’s welcome to leave a comment! Jason’s Blog Arthur’s blog, podcasts and videos can be accessed here.

2PP129 – 1 April 2020
This episode was recorded on the first of April (NZDT), but Arthur spent most of the next day fixing the 2Political website, which had “issues”. Oh, well. We talk about the only real topic there is at the moment. We’re not exactly fans of the way that the current occupant of the White House has “handled” the crisis. Arthur offers some contrasts with what’s happening in New Zealand. Jason also shares one of the coping strategies in his area. We need to work out what’s next—what will the economy look like after the pandemic is under control? What do we want it to be? Let us know what you think! Everyone’s welcome to leave a comment. 2PP128 – 27 March 2020
This episode has a little bit of a rant. We’ve been provoked—as have we all, actually. To begin, Arthur explains New Zealand’s lockdown, like what the rules are. So far, people are complying. Much annoyed discussion follows. We also talk about how we’re coping with all this. We even talk about modern TVs! This is a replacement for an episode we recorded last week, but it was a bad week for me, so I couldn’t finish editing it and, well, it got too old. Everyone’s welcome to leave a comment. 2PP127 – 25 February 2020
We’re back! And so soon! After some currents events and personal stuff, we go to the main topic: Caucuses. We both don’t like them because of how undemocratic they are, and think it’s time for reform. We also talk about some stuff about us at the end. Everyone’s welcome to leave a comment. 2PP126 – 22 February 2020
Apparently, we’re back. With elections in both New Zealand and the United States this year, how could we NOT resume? Duty calls! We begin by talking about why, exactly, it’s taken us so long to resume. Basically, life happened, deeply upsetting things that meant we just didn’t want to podcast. But, we’re here again, and soon we’ll start talking politics again. Everyone’s welcome to leave a comment. http://2political.com/audio/2PP126-20February2020.mp3

2PP125 – 4 October 2017
This is an old-fashioned episode—we talked about all sorts of stuff just like we did all those many years ago when we were just kids! We begin with Arthur joking about spam emails we got, then we talk about scams, too. Then we go on to talk briefly about North Korea setting off nucelar weapons and affecting New Zealand. That, appropriately enough, leads to talk about the Australian government’s postal survey on marriage equality. Responses are due by November 7, but people are urged to post them back by October 27. Like the previous episode, this one was also recorded the end of September, but Arthur’s busy work schedule kept him from editing it. The date of this episode actually refers to when I processed the files—sorry for lifting the curtain a bit. Everyone’s welcome to leave a comment—agree or disagree! 2PP124 – 30 September 2017
We’ve been gone for a long time. This episode is about the unexpected reason for that. This episode was recorded the end of September, but Arthur’s busy work schedule kept him from editing it. That’s pretty insignificant, really. Everyone’s welcome to leave a comment—agree or disagree! We’re back!! Um, again… We’ve both been very busy with a lot of things that have kept us from podcasting. Hopefully things will now be better for podcasting. Today’s episode was recorded last week, right after FBI Director Comey was fired. We talk about that, what Congress could do to get rid of Don and rate the odds of them happening. We also talk about what the resistance should do in the next year or so. Yes, Jiffy Pop still exists. And, just like Orville Redenbacher’s, it is presently owned by ConAgra Everyone’s welcome to leave a comment—agree or disagree!
