Disabled representation is important and we should be mindful of the way the media, movies, tv, books etc. treat disability as something to be scared of and sad about. We deserve to see our stories in accurate, positive light and not the tragic tropes we are used to being used for. Tune into this weeks episode to hear my humble opinion on the movies and shows that missed the mark and the one singular show that got it right.

Hear what disability pride month means from a disabled person, the importance of the ADA and why July is important to the disability community. Taking pride in your disability is so important so others will not use it against you but also so you know your rights and what you have a right to as a disabled person. We have a long way to go but taking pride in our disability is the best way to start.

Discussing Imposter Syndrome and how it affects a disabled community who are constantly told what we are worth and what we can and cannot do! Most resources a disabled person needs in order to stay independent are to make their lives accessible to them whether that means work, transportation or socially. We must realize when aspects of life are made inaccessible you are excluding an entire disabled population. It’s national Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month and I wanted to give the world some facts about cerebral palsy and broaden perspectives about living with a chronic physical disability!

Talking with my very first disabled guest as we break down accepting our disability and how accepting the tasks that come with our disabled lives help us ask for the help and accommodations we need. We hope this opens the door for everyone to accept themselves and start having open conversations about their needs!

As adults we tend to make everything about us. I think it is time to sit back and take a look at how the pandemic is affecting the kids. Every single kid in this country has been affected by the pandemic, academically and socially and mentally, more specifically children on the Autism Spectrum. Children have had difficulty adjusting to the world changing right before their eyes and the parents and families are often left without support. We talk about some of the worries families might have and how COVID has directly affected families with Autism.
