Despite the decades in between, Chopra's flair for the romantic and his ability to tell a sweeping love story that breaks your heart and makes your day are just as present here as they were in his earlier work. And while the slightly fantastical nature of Jab Tak Hai Jaan may require you to suspend some disbelief, we dare you not to fall in love with it. This week's movie marks a bunch of firsts for us: our first film directed by Yash Chopra, our first film from before the 90s, and our first film starring the incomparable Sridevi! After Pathaan and Jawan, we were really looking forward to a little sweetness and silliness from our fave Bollywood boy. And while Shah Rukh was delightful as always, the emotional impact of a film like Dunki can't be ignored. While it doesn't exactly strike the ideal balance of comedy and drama, it sheds light on the important issue of dangerous immigration tactics, and left us thinking a lot about the plight of immigrants across the globe.
