These guys are great at addressing interesting topics beyond book reviews, while still adding in plenty of reviews I enjoy. I have a lot of them bookmarked for when I finish a book to come back to.

Closest taste to mine I’ve found. Pretty funny. I had a good feeling about them a few minutes into the first one I’ve listened to. Good rating system too.

I love the books they review. Austin is great! Richard’s edge-lord/Discord moderator energy is grating. If you can get past him, it’s not bad.

I usually watch them on YouTube but I’ll give them 5 stars everywhere! They are entertaining, and have really good takes on books. They have a super solid understanding of every aspect of sci-fi fantasy stories. You should give them a listen!

The YouTube algorithm first targeted me with their best worst book ever: ACOTAR episode, and I’ve been a listener ever since! Richard and Austin cover everything from Tolkien to Sanderson—and even share some of their fantasy romance hot takes. I’ve especially enjoyed their discussions on one of my all-time favorites, Sword of Kaigen. Their passion for the larger genre really shines through with their energy and enthusiasm in every episode. And with their aggressive output, I feel like I’m never without something to listen to. Love the show!

Loved an IG clip and was super down to hear a podcast from a couple of Sanderson fans. Decided to listen from the beginning, got about 3 episodes in. The angry schlubby guy clearly has some kind of DEI issues going on. The entire rant about Tolkien writing an analogous Great Britain mythology story with LotR and therefore black people make no sense for the Amazon show, was simply unhinged. Yea, no thanks.

Great chemistry between the co-hosts. You can hear their passion for fantasy and always have engaging content! Can’t recommend enough.

I am not normally a podcast guy. I would normally prefer to listen to music, and most podcasts I find boring. But these guys, Austin and Rich, even if I have never read the book or even thought about it manage to keep me entertained for my longer drives. Not only is this a great podcast for people who love books and reading, but often Rich will chime in with some philosophical take and as someone who has studied philosophy, he does a good job portraying that philosophy for what it is, including its flaws. I love their dynamic and I am worried about a parasocial relationship developing, but man these guys are fun. And it isn’t even always books! The personality quiz episode they did was pretty fun and I can’t wait to hear about Austin’s.

Got me to start reading The Way of Kings!

I listen to quite a few podcasts with hosts I’ve grown attached to over the last decade.You get used to their personality, their inside jokes, and their voices. It’s hard to add a new podcast into your daily mix because usually they won’t feel the same.It only took one episode for me to feel like I wasListening to good friends talk about our interests.The passion of these two bring to their conversations is incredible and I can’t wait for each episode.I hope they continue to put out content on a regular basis and I would gladly contribute to any patreon they set up to make sure this happens.
