Rightly named, SO DOPE!
This podcast is named correctly and is definitely SO DOPE. I have been listening since day 1 when I left Brooklyn for France. My number 1 pod! The content is on point, culturally relevant, progressive, insightful, global with local perspectives and fresh. Keep it coming!! Thanks Mike and Phil.

Awesome Podcast!
These guys are great! They always have insightful commentary and interesting topics that keep me updated about culture and current events. I also really like On Point when they invite a guest to speak on the show. It's always a fun show and makes me want to pull up a chair, have a drink, and laugh with them. I would definitely recommend this to my friends! Thanks guys!

Progressive, Creative
Interesting and informative, I really appreciate having this additional opportunity to hear Michael and crew discuss the issues left undiscussed by corporate media. Thoughtful conversations on any number of cultural issues are served twice a week.

👌🏽
Mike and Phil are super smart but accessible at the same time. Intelligence without the pretentiousness. These guys are necessary given our current cultural climate.

Insightful
When the topic of podcasts come up in a group setting or someone ask for referrals this is my first choice! I put all book crates on my Holiday wish list. This is engaging and informative and makes me look at things on another level when it comes to social good and impact! Thanks Matt, Phil, Michael, Shawn/Sean! Also the research and questions asked for On Point are well thought out and provoke insightful conversation.

Well Informed and Witty
Well informed and witty Podcast. Enjoy the humor interjected with knowledge. Good stuff!

Good & getting better and better in fact!
This is one of the better newish podcasts that I've discovered. It's no 'chapo green house' however, it's insightful political/cultural commentary that's smart with a just enough levity. I am also thankful they didn't call the pod 'Brooks and McKenzie' because then they would probably only talk about Steely Dan and organic turkey jerky. Check it.

Yes, indeed
Great show. Intersectionality. It's deep.

Great discussion
Found this through the Majority Report and really liked Micheal's level headed take on issues. I love the type of topics these guys chose to focus on and they have great guests. One of the few podcasts I listen to every week.

Casual yet Relevant
I've tried a lot of podcasts, but this one is pretty unique in both its content and approach. The hosts aren't preachy or pretentious at all, but they know their stuff and it shows. Whether it's talking about rap artists, the Olympics, or a new Netflix show, they always bring up interesting questions on how pop culture works affect and shape the world around us; and how we can shape the work itself. Michael has great insight as always, Phil is a super cool dude, and superproducer Matt always keeps the episodes a good length and very cleanly edited. The guests are varied, which is nice. I will be a long time listener for sure.

2 Dope Boys and a Cadillac..sorry wrong crew. ;)
Discovered them a few months ago by pure luck because of another podcast with the same 2 first words. Have hung in there, I appreciate their point of view on things and now they are my favorites who I look forward to every week & yes that includes you "Super Producer Matt Lech".

A Must Listen!
Shout out to Hyun Kim for putting me on to this podcast. I listened to the first episode and have been back every week for more. I look forward to every release. Informative, humorous and overall, DOPE. As a creative, I'm always looking for inspiration and staying on top of the here and now. 2 Dope Boys cover it all. A must listen. Congrats to the crew and keep providing more! @khattabmcintosh

Something different
This podcast has been on my radar since May. A couple of college friends were discussing it and the topics covered peaked my interest. I think the topics are cool and I try to listen every so often. They def offer a different perspective. The hosts have good chemistry. Wishing them great success as more people hopefully tune in.

Top Notch, Grade A, & Super Fresh
2 Dope Boys & a Podcast simply delivers. Have yet to finish an episode without learning something. To Michael Brooks, Phil Mckenzie, Super Producer Matt Lech and the whole crew, Thank you and stay dope.

Quality
I was hesitant to listen to this one … sounded a little too hip for a midwestern suburbanite like me, but I really enjoy Michael and Matt on The Majority Report, so I took the chance, and was happily surprised. Fantastic and wise co-hosts, interesting topics .. I immediately moved this one to the top of my playlist so I could listen with morning coffee. I love the ad goof-ups especially. A definite keeper.

a niche show
I like Michael Brooks on the the Majority Report and his quick humor. I wanted to like this, but its really a niche show for a younger and more plugged into pop culture audience. For me, the intros to the shows are alway a bit too self-congratulatory and the talk about how the show is "going to" do something (instead of just doing it) drags. Maybe the intros and introductions should be tightened up and not meander around everything the guest might like to think about themselves? The "and the number of times "man" is tossed back and forth - it grates. I'm a political person but for me that translates into anti-consumerist anti-consumption. This show loves to talk about "trends" and "brands" but that's just the garbage we have to slog through every day. It's gross enough that companies are trying to influence (young) people through music art etc. But to hear it talked about like it's important work? This kind of manipulation isn't something I want to hear applauded. The pop culture, hip-hop culture hollywood movie/TV emphasis is the hosts just not something I'm interested in listening to.

High-End Conversation That is Always Cutting Edge...
I've been a huge fan of Sam Seder and the Majority Report for years and think Sam is, without a doubt, the best in the business. I don't remember exactly when Michael Brooks came onboard, but from the very first time I heard him, I knew he was a rising star. While I love his presence on the MR -- he has a brilliant insightful mind and true comedic genius -- it's been really great to watch 2 Dope Boys come into its own. This is high-end conversation that is always smart, quite far-reaching, and always cutting edge. You won't find talk like this anywhere else. It's like hanging out with the smartest, coolest, most with it people in town. If you want to be up on everything that's current, this is the show for you... And let me just add that like some other reviewers here, I'm a baby boomer who pays little attention to pop culture and often have to check urban dictionary or google to understand what they're talking about. And yes, some of the guests and/or team members strike me as a bit too young and arrogant for their own good :) But honestly, whatever... The show gets better and better each week and in my opinion, that is what really matters.

Love Your Podcast
Hi Michael and Phil--I’ve listened to the Majority Report for years and was ecstatic when Michael was given a bit more autonomy. That podcast led me to 2 Dope Boys and a Podcast. I discovered The Majority Report through The Best of the Left. The latter has pretty much fallen off my radar, but the other two—I’m definitely a fan of Majority and will remain a follower of 2 Dope Boys. I’m kinda of “long in the tooth” and don’t know a lot of the celebs that you’re discussing, but I enjoy it anyway. The language is sometimes a bit crass. It would bother me more, but I know that Michael is capable of such eloquence. You’ve lead me to another podcast WethePeopleLive. Keep up the good work!

Excellent analysis, great hosts
I'm a massive fan of the majority report - frankly it's the one political podcast I can depend on for honest, intelligent progressive analysis - Sam Seder and Michael brooks are witty and provide keen analysis on the issues of the day. 2 dope boys features Michael and Phil - same great mind, different subject matter. Always a pleasure to listen to. This podcast will make you smarter, culturally richer, and more aware. Give it a listen!

Love it!
Just the pod I was looking for. Much more real and insightful than Slate, Salon and some of the other so-called competitors I used to listen to. Love the positive praise during the ‘what’s good’ segments.

I'm a big fan. The guys are smart, entertaining and very plugged in. If you're interested in trends, culture, or ideas - or if you work in communications - this is an entertaining, provocative and helpful show.

Eh...
The least interesting, most pretentious guy from The Majority Report gets his own podcast. It's not terrible.

Not since I was trapped in a dorm room with stoned undergrads so proud of their magazine reading and their vocabularies have I spent a more miserable hour. Love the Majority Report, this is not that.

Really smart, really illuminating show
I'm incredibly impressed by 2 Dope Boys & a Podcast. Brilliant, entertaining, insightful and really funny. Michael and Phil have great hosting game and the crew (rotating co-hosts) is awesome. This is show is trendy and also deep, amusing but really smart. Crazy how strong it is out of the gate. If your not listening yet get on it

Gig economy—great segment!
Thanks for covering this problem. Gig work is an employer strategy to avoid paying for social insurance designed during the depression. On the employee side, it is a mix of “I’ll live forever/I’ll never get sick” and desperation. One little juicy side benefit is that these jobs are largely invisible to government job market measures that were designed, again, during the depression. The Freelancers’ Union might be a good group to have on this podcast. They have interesting approaches. Maybe you guys could get your coverage from them and work out some kind of sponsorship/cross promotion deal! We need social insurance that applies to all citizens. If we pay for it out of wages, it should be offset by an earned income credit so the lowest paid aren’t incentivized to work for cash.

Fresh perspectives
What I really enjoy is the discussion of business and marketing topics from a progressive perspective. Def will continue to check for this.

good stuff
I think Michael is terrific...it's true, it's true. Phil is damned good, too. The discussions between them and the crew members are interesting and entertaining. As a Baby Boomer I admit I sometimes have to Google things they talk about, such as what "dope" meant in this context. I'm glad the Majority Report branched out.

I might give this a couple more goes...
...because I do generally like Michael (new to Phil) - or just be more selective in which episodes I listen to. But I stopped listening to last one after that Starbucks rant, which was a pretty gross display of health (not drink) shaming, with a side of weight bigotry, topped with uninformed equivalencies of size, health and nutrition. I'll remember their sound advice the next time I want to respond to casual microagressions that are directed towards my weight, gender expression and/or blackness. Certainly, I'm being too sensitive and probably deserved it. :-/

Enjoyed the discussion regarding the “remix” culture. I would add that today in the visual arts there is a neocon thread in academia that contends remix art is the ONLY valid contemporary art. Art neocons believe that there is literally no originality left; that all art needs to be a remix, rife with sarcasm and parody. I disagree. I think it’s a blatant copout by people who are lazy and/or don’t really can't to do the work of a “true” artist.

Thanks Brands!
I would listen to Michael Brooks talk about literally anything. A truly rare, funny, thoughtful, and incisive thinker. But I don’t care about helping brands. At all. Don’t understand why this is the focus of the podcast. Wish 2DB would leave that stuff to their private consultancy and focus on a more granular exploration of culture and ideas, which is where they shine (often dazzlingly so). Worry that the current approach is going to have trouble growing a lasting listener base--I suspect the only people who care about helping brands are the ones getting paid to do so. Surely that’s a niche too small for the minds of 2DB.

Addicted!
So I need this podcast for my work as a creative. Its so smart and on top of everything, the evil side of app dating "ghosting", why Soca music is about to go global, why the Middle Class is disappearing and the brand screwup up the week (we see you Chingy and Whole Foods). Michael and Phil have really good rapport and I can't wait to hear more from the crew. Now going to be a weekly listener.

Keeping it fun, keeping it critical
Any show that can range from how stupid Whole Foods is to the spread of global afrobeat culture to climate modeling predictions in one episode has my vote. Sort of like the New Yorker in its variety, but way more left, way more fun, way ahead of the cultural curve and way less... white. Looking forward to seeing this show evolve and continue to get tighter.
