On episode #419 we look at the story of Martin Luther King, Jr. to learn how we can use the fundamental of Having a Vision to lead from the inside-out. This requires that we not just know WHAT we want to do and WHERE we want to go, but more importantly WHO we want to be. It may also be necessary for us to challenge, and even change, some of the beliefs we currently hold so we can create a better version of ourselves.

On episode #418 we look at the story of Coach Harold Jones and Radio to highlight the importance of self-awareness for leaders. We often have a wide-range of emotions which run through our body and it is important to acknowledge those emotions along with our motivations. Yet, in the midst of experiencing those emotions, including self-doubt, we can choose to be a lighthouse who helps and serves and others.

On episode #417, we discuss how we can live a good live even in times of pain and suffering by seizing the opportunity to Learn...Live...and Lead. We share the story of Caroline Found, a teenager who died tragically in an accident but whose life had a tremendous impact on those who knew her because of her ability to live, laugh, and love. Even in her death, she inspires us to remember that in the pursuit of our goals we need to Enjoy the Journey.

On episode #416, we discuss how we need to moderate the labor and leisure in our lives so we can more fully take advantage of the opportunities to love.

On episode #415 we discuss how we can overcome our obstacles by taking the next right actions. We often default to the attitude of "Just tell me what to do," but this will not help us strengthen our leadership in our classrooms. This attitude attempts to shirk the responsibility of thinking critically and making decisions. In terms of setting goals, we need to take the next right action by setting long-term goals which are internal goals that focus on WHO we want to be. And our short-term goals should only be in 24 hour segments so don't look too far ahead and stumble. Rather than employing management techniques and following a script, we need to show leadership by surveying our situations and taking the next right action. This will help us do the right things to make a difference in the lives of our students.

On episode #414, we discuss the 12 Fundamentals of Impact we will need on our journey to make a difference in the world. As the hero of our story, we need fundamentals we can employ on our journey to help ensure we experience transformation and we use our experience to make an IMPACT on others. Our impact, whether great or small, comes from executing certain FUNDAMENTALS. These fundamentals work in pairs through an INSIDE-OUT format. Inside fundamentals help us employ MINDSETS of impact. Outside fundamentals guide us to take ACTIONS which create a positive impact. Ultimately, the journey always provides the hero opportunities to CREATE A BETTER VERSION OF THEMSELVES so they can give their gifts and abilities away to others and MAKE A DIFFERENCE in the world.

On episode #413 we discuss the stages of The Hero's Journey and how we need to embrace the fact that we are the hero of the story we are writing with our life. An awareness of the stages of The Hero's Journey will eventually help us employ the 12 Fundamentals of Impact we can use to make a difference in the lives of our students.

On episode #412, we break down some of the leadership lessons from famous inventor Thomas Edison. We will all experience failure during our leadership journey, but if we use failure in the correct way it can strengthen confidence in our leadership. We can be lighthouses who use the lessons we learn from our failures to help our students learn, grow, and change into better versions of themselves.

On episode #411 we look at how we can use the Socratic Method to make ourselves go deeper. We need to be intentional about creating time and space to let our mind work. When we question ourselves we can become confident in our beliefs, and this will help us have healthy relationships with those we lead.

On episode #410 we hear a story of a man who stayed off the emotional roller coaster of reacting to results and circumstances in his life. Instead, he focused on his responsibility to give his best effort and best attitude to the people in his life. We may not be able to see the evidence or results right away, but our example of how we live when we don't get the results we want is extremely powerful in shaping the lives of those around us.
