Information on this case
My niece was her best friend, the cops could not question her because she was a minor. My niece has a lot to say and can provide them with names that could lead to people of interests. No one seems to want to hear what she knows. It might lead to someone or it might not! My niece was her best friend!!!

Great podcaster
Jason always does an excellent job with his investigations, and the presentation of the cases. His podcast are very captivating, and I can’t ever get enough. I appreciate that he brings light to cases from MS. Definitely give this podcast a try!

Love this podcast!!
I was born and raised in MS. I still live in North MS. I’ve always enjoyed listening to true crime podcasts. For those reasons, I have become obsessed with this one! This podcast has become one of my faves!!! Great job and keep up the awesome work!!

Great
I really like the story telling. I feel connected to the host. I hope the hosts daughter continues to be in remission.

Style over substance
The substance that is here is great. Great interviews, nuanced insight, excellent use of music and JLU has a great voice for this line of work. It’s also incredibly frustrating to make it through many of the episodes because of its unfocused, overlong, and repetitive narration. Too much effort but into framing things up and then sidetracking to unrelated news.

More like a vlog for the narrator. The daily journal podcast was much more focused and detail oriented and gave Leigh Occhi more justice in details.

Amazing!!!
I can’t stop listening! The music is fantastic too!!!

I wanted to like it
The podcast did not seem serious at all. The host’s demeanor was more like that of the narrator of Dukes of Hazard. His voice is very nice and deep for podcasting, but he was too animated and sassy for a serious true crime podcast.
The music was also very distracting and not fitting for the subject matter. A little girl disappeared and is likely dead; ‘party time’ music is completely unnecessary. I only finished three episodes. I could not suffer through the bad format any longer. I’m sorry. I wanted to like it.

Interesting Story, Low Effort
Opens with a psychic, proceeds to give psychics way too much time and credit. Screw psychics. They prey on vulnerable people for profit and/or attention.

It should have been good
With how irritated the host was that someone else dared to covert case (really?), you would expect to find lots of information. Nope. Each approximately 20 minute episode is full of ads, personal dedications, and updates on his daughter (while I am sure she is wonderful, if he wanted to do a podcast on a family dealing with the diagnosis of Leukemia, that’s what he should have done, not tied it to this poor missing girl.) So you get maybe 7 or 8 minutes of information. The sound quality is often horrific. Added to that, he often makes it sound like if you are from anywhere but the Southern US, you are “less than", and it becomes even more offensive. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one was simply the hope that more people hear the story and are somehow able to bring forth information that can bring the family peace.

Don’t believe the hype
Roughly 10 minutes of actual content per episode with at least 5 minutes of ads, breaks, and outro music (if not more). The story itself is compelling, but there just isn’t enough actual meat to the bones of this podcast. I listened all the way through and was interested in the story, but was increasingly frustrated when I realized I had listened to just as much ads and fluff as I had any real meaningful storytelling. The way it’s structured, including “previews” teasing the next episode’s content, you’re getting even less content then I mentioned above.
Why do you need a “break” after literally 5 minutes of content?

You don’t own the rights to cover a case, dude.
The access to individuals and archival footage related to this case are about the only part that was impressive. It’s just not written in a compelling or linear format, so it felt like it meandered way too much. I also just didn’t find the host to be actually invested in the case. More than any of that, though, calling out another podcaster for covering this case was unprofessional and it really bothered me. The other podcaster didn’t owe this host an apology or explanation, yet even after one was given, the host of this show still sounded as though they felt their territory had been stepped on. Not cool.

LOVE
I’m a huge crime junkie and this is probably one of the best podcasts out there. I love how informative this is. OBSESSED.

Stop the previews
Jeez stop the previews! How many previews are you going to release? I keep seeing you pop up in my feed only to find out it’s another preview.

Could have been a great show
Doesn’t feel like a passion project at all. Maybe 2min of content per episode. I don’t mind ads or personal background info about the host but I had to do my own research to find out more about this poor little girl. That’s not what you want a listener to do. First episode started strong then it took a major dive. In the beginning the host is upset because someone else might also host a podcast about Leah? There are a lot of other podcasters who already have. For instance, listen to Generation Why to find out the entire story in 40min.

Well done!
I think 13 is well done and worth a listen. New info is shared and a clearer picture. We will never stop looking for Leigh!

Avid podcast listener, not in love with “JLU”
To echo other reviewers, JLU didn't do a very good job narrating this podcast, and I found the whole thing to be rather light on facts. Granted, there’s probably not a lot to go on, as it is pointed out in a later episode that the media didn’t press the investigation as much as they “should have.” Also, without the total cooperation of the Tupelo Police Department, and the lack of commentary from Leigh Occhi’s mom, I think JLU did the best he could. It was interesting enough and well told enough to keep me listening, though, even through JLU’s narration, overly dramatic music placement, and terrible “connections” between his life/kids and the story of LO.

Lovely!
I'm from the area, so to see a team do an in depth focus on this topic is wonderful!

Great Podcast
Anyone that has followed this case from the beginning, or cares about finding this child and the person/persons responsible, will appreciate the hard work and dedication that has been put into this podcast. There are many new discoveries here that law enforcement may have missed. Thank you for all your hard work, and for caring about this 13 year old girls life, while your own daughter was fighting for hers. Super happy to hear Sugarlump is doing better, and will continue to pray for her complete healing. ❤️❤️❤️

No content!
Each 20 minute episode consists of 10 minutes of credits and ads and a 5 minute update on his daughter. There’s only five minutes of actual content per episode and little research done into the material.

Promising start but fails to deliver
I’ll just echo what all the other reviewers have said. Episodes too short, and his inside jokes/slang/nicknames are lame and detrimental to the show. I do like the introduction music and i like his voice but it let me down. But I will acknowledge the true crime podcast bar has been set very high so we are used to excellent podcasts

Could be much better
Interesting subject matter for sure, very intriguing. But after weaving through local ads for satellite service etc, you’re left with only about 10 minutes of content each episode!! With episodes being released once every week or two, it’s super hard to get into the story and follow along with that little content. Would be MUCH better as one long podcast, or at the very least 30-45 minute episodes.

Going down
Started out really liking this one bc it is an interesting cold case and the overall idea seemed to be executed well. However, the further I listened the more irritated I become with it. Each episode contains very small amounts of content, but realistically how much can you expect to fit into 20 minutes? 1/3 of that is adds, then there is an update on personal life, then there is drawn out music. So roughly 12 minutes of actual podcast an episode?

Really, really terrible
This is honestly one of the worst podcasts I have ever listened to. The sound quality is bad, the interviews are bad, the host is bad. I have no previous knowledge of Lee Occhi but found myself here because I like true crime. This podcast is so bad that I searched elsewhere for what actually happened. This podcast can’t be saved. It’s really, really terrible.
E. Spemking
Too short of episodes
Of the 20 minute episodes 3 minutes are intro, 7 are repeating himself from previous episodes, 5 are his personal opinions or unrelated anecdotes about his life which leaves about 5 minutes for interesting new information each episode

Audio quality
I’d give this podcast more stars if I could ever understand what the people on the audio calls are saying. It’s frustrating.

Could be sooo good- but it’s not.
8 minutes of useful content. 20 minute podcast. Lots of local ads and discussion about the host’s kids. Could be sooo good- but it’s not.

Excellent Podcast!
Call me old, but if I hit upon a podcast where the hosts giggle at their own jokes a lot, no matter how interesting the subject matter is, I'm gone. I found this podcast interesting because I like to listen to missing people/mysteries/murder podcasts, but also because this is close to home - Tupelo is less than 2 hours away from me, yet I don't remember hearing about this case. I stayed with this podcast because of the professionalism shown by the host. Very good sound, very easy to understand, no awkward pauses - my only complaint is I'd like an hour instead of 20 minutes for each podcast :-)

Great Podcast
I like this podcast a lot. I wish episodes wouldn’t be so far apart though.

Just ok
The show could be great but its only 20 minutes per episode and half of those 20 minutes is filler with previously heard clips and commercials, so what couldve been a great podcast is basically 8 minutes of new content per episode

Quality
Excellent, professionally done podcast, but I agree with other reviewer, I wish they were longer.

Ugh
I'm interested in the story, but the podcast is way too melodramatic. It's a compelling story that doesn't need to rely on gimmicks, but the writing is full of them. And then there's the music: just STOP already. So much overblown music that's just unnecessary. I end up having to skip forward too many times during each episode. Not sure if I'm going to be able to finish this one.

Serialpodcaster
The audio is a bit spotty in places, but overall well pieced together. Engaging story with an intriguing and dark-humored (I like) storyteller.

Hooked
I hope you can do what hasn’t officially been done, find out what happened and who did it. Great podcast! I’m anxiously awaiting the next episode.

One annoyance
Good podcast, but stop with the music. It’s distracting and annoying.

High quality storytelling
The podcast’s Rhythm, sound, dialogue and overall production provides a tranquil yet suspenseful listening experience.

Interesting- but too short
This could be amazing, but 20 min long episodes do not provide listeners enough content. Really frustrated because its well executed.
Tsquirrel25
Pretty good
Enjoyable, but the music doesn’t quite fit.

Tight and Taunt
Thrillingly executed so far, episodes are brief but leave one with the need to know more ~ and hopes that the wrongdoer gets punished and of a little girl recovered....

So far
The intro music is too much and goes on far too long. Way too much effort on production gimmicks and not enough story.

Pleasantly surprised
I’m pleasantly surprised by the podcast from my hometown. It’s really interesting to hear all the details about this tragedy. I remember the time when it happened vividly.
Wookie_27
Good storytelling ... Poor execution
Great narrator and the story is very compelling... but the audio production is horrible. Listening in my car I have to turn it down every time the music clips play and turn it all the way up to hear the phone interviews. The audio levels are terribly inconsistent... so much so that it’s impossible to listen to on the road. Very disappointing production value.

The Dogs Are Out!
I'm enjoying this podcast. Nice sense of place, and I like the narrator/journalist's point of view. Nice to hear a bolder tone and perspective as opposed to the hipster sound of IraGlass longform journalism. As a southerner, I appreciate anything that sounds this authentic.

Very well done!
Coming from a local TV station, this podcast is put together quite nicely. My only problem with it is that it’s too short!
