I found this on accident and I was hooked. It stuck with me for a long time. I had downloaded it, forgot, then on a roadtrip with my husband, we lost service. I looked at my downloads and there it was! He was hooked! Just a mind boggling story. Sad! We need more like this!

I found this podcast by accident, started to listen just to have some background noise while working and before I knew it I was hooked, starting from episode 1 again and really listening to the episode. I was hooked on the series and couldn’t wait to get to the end and getting to the truth of this assignment. I absolutely loved it and highly recommend the listen

Not only is this binge worthy but made a positive impact in the world. 5 stars. My brother has been incarcerated since he was a teenager under false forensic information and ineffective assistance of counsel. This is not as rare as people think it is. Getting a unjust conviction overturned is sadly a reality a lot of people will never see.

I would love to have more podcasts like this. I binged listened to it one morning. I also loved Letters from Sing Sing.

You did a great job, Dan. You hooked me in, but I was very disappointed with Richard’s outcome at the end and I hope he thanked you for your diligence. What a shame he wins his freedom, but traps himself in self pity and refuses to make anything better of himself. He is very fortunate with loving and supportive family and friends, but wallows in the past. He needs therapy and a huge wake up call to focus on all the good he has and how fortunate he is. He needs to enjoy life and freedom instead of wallowing in self pity. His family suffered much too, but he doesn’t seem to recognize that.

This is told in an amazing way that opens your eyes to the injustice of wrongful convictions. And the infuriating way that those who should hold themselves to a higher standard just won’t do it! Admitting your wrong or mistakes have been made is not a fatal flaw!

I listen to letters from sing sing and remember u saying he referred 2 other people in jail that were innocent , don’t you think they should re look at all the cases done by these offices How do three different people end up in the same block in jail and you get them all out this is crazy You need to go back 20 years and look at all the cases done by who ever was in office at that time

I know in the bonus episode what you were trying to say about all the different pieces that worked to get this conclusion. But you should know that without you in that equation I am not sure it would have turned out the way it did. I can’t thank you enough for what you did for this man.

I am hoping someone will keep investigating this case!!

You showed a perfect example of how broken the judicial system - except you need to give me something to do about it.

I was surprised at the length of the episodes, but those short episodes packed a punch. Dan proves to be a committed and trustworthy narrator. The case is terrifying and I wish there that there could have been a better resolution for the family. Very very well done.

So we’ll done. I cried for the injustice and occasionally cussed out loud…much to the chagrin of the older gentleman standing next to me in produce. I hope you are working on the next one! I’m waiting!

this was so well done and so good. i was enthralled the whole time. it truly makes you want to get out there and fight for the innocent people incarcerated.

So many Wows in this series. 1st, how on earth did that poor man get sent to prison for that long when the evidence was sooooo clear is beyond me?!?!?! The other Wow is I really enjoyed listening to this. Such great journalism and caring and compassion. As a severe sufferer from insomnia, this got me through a part of my brutal night of tossing and turning!!!! I sure hope there are more stories on the horizon. 🙏🙏

I listened to all episodes. It’s sad so many years later he can’t live. It is through pain spiritual growth happens. Turn the pain into usefulness. God saved him for a reason. He could help someone else instead of sitting in the anger. Anger and resentment only hurts you. Pray and ask God where he may be of service to someone. Pray God will heal the heart. Makes me feel sick that this happens to innocent people... glad to be educated on his story though.

I appalled at the fact that are justice system is such a mess . How come no one can change these laws that are keeping innocent people in prison. Why does it seem like we as a society condone this crazyness . And more important why are we the people accepting this . Aren’t we all better than this

Mr Rosario’s wife stated that she wired him money when he was in Florida. This would have been easily traceable and verifiable. Was that ever researched?

I have been watching and listening to Date Line for many years. 13 Alibis was a compiling story to tell. What’s crazy is this country in ability to admit to mistake yet we teach that point to our children “admit when you’re wrong “we are told it’s part of being a man or woman. Yet this country’s justice system acts like it’s infallible, on the one hand we admit that the system isn’t perfect “ but it’s the only one that we have” . Not perfect “ plus it a game between lawyers. And the judge needs to be a judge he must judge the jury and if they get it wrong he or she needs to step in and over rule the juries decision. Based on his interpretation of the facts and if the facts are not there then call the trial and do whatever is needed to get justice for victims and the accuse.

True crime and investigatory podcasts are typically drawn out to the point where they lose me. This one was succinct and focused of the topic of each short episode. Richard’s story was really compelling, and we so rarely get an inside look into people being wronged by the system to this extent. Great podcast, great host, and great story!

I binge listened to every episode this morning. The objectivity of the investigative reporting was mesmerizing. My condolences to the family of the deceased young man who lost his life so long ago and I hope that they will come face to face with the real murderer. My heart aches for Richard Rosario and his family who endured (and continue to endure) a miscarriage of justice by his wrongful conviction. Thanks to Dan Slepian and NBC News for bringing this story among the 40,000 to light.

Job well done with this. This show did not have the typical redundant repeats. It was researched & presented well.

Love the pod cast, this made me so emotional on different levels. I am hoping our justices system is getting more ethical, as in this case. Unfortunately, I feel it is still on a political level in so many ways. No one should have to prove their innocence, it is up to the state to prove a person’s guilt ethically. People, never show up to the police without a lawyer!

Very well done. I know the American justice system is not perfect but it it is the best in the world. This seems like a case that should of been easy to dismiss initially but pray him and his family can reconnect and love will prevail.

This could have been consolidated into one episode. The producers made a series but there wasn’t content to support it. Aside from that, the man in question needs to go get work like the rest of us. To say you’re too upset to go to work is an excuse and a ploy for receiving compensation from the NYC government which is in turn the tax payer.

The American justice system is so shameful. This should not happen. So many years lost. So much reform is needed stating with holding law enforcement and prosecutors accountable for their actions that lead to someone being wrongfully convicted, for falsely accusing someone. And compensation should be mandatory.

The whole story was very eye opening. Listening to his story, and hearing all the injustice he had to go through was heartbreaking. Happy to hear there was a good outcome.

Life inside episode made absolutely no sense, why should these guys( like the one who beat a woman to death) be set out to do it again because he did it when he was a teen? Stop trying to be so pc, these ppl are murderers getting exactly what they deserve, no a single one that was found guilty of murder should be set free.

The story is interesting, but the narrative includes too much about the writer- his own reaction, thoughts and feelings... too many “I statements.”

I listen to it all in one sitting. I couldn’t stop. This man absolutely deserves to be compensated. This is awful. Is there a petition we can sign for Richard Rosario? This was just plan WRONG what happened to him.

As close as I have heard to Serial, the podcast all others are judged by.
