What makes this story remarkable is that when Minakshi Singh started bartending at private events and parties in the early 2000s, it was illegal for women to bartend in India. It was only in 2010, that the law was officially repealed in New Delhi.

It's one thing to have a dream but another to act on it. Minakshi knew that from her bartending days that she would one day open a bar, however, she couldn't have predicted it would become one of the best bars in the world.

She is now the co-owner of Sidecar, a Cocktail Bar located in New Delhi, India. Ranked No.26 on the World's 50 Best Bars 2022 and No.14 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2022.

Adrian Abraham speaks to Minakshi about how her parents reacted to the decision of not pursuing a traditional career and what she can recall from the initial conversation with her business partner Yangdup Lama. She also explains how she manages to balance a busy work schedule while looking after her young son.
