Along for the ride- thank you gang
I’m only 150ish into this journey (or dumb idea of a project not sure which one) and while I’m doing the random generator instead of chronological…I’ve been going back and listening to those albums along with their group of friends whom I will never meet.
So let me just be one to say thank you, not sure if you all did this podcast just because it is fun to be with one another - but it has truly been the highlight of this journey so far to experience, learn and laugh about this music along with you strangers.
Keep it up and know that in addition to being such a positive addition to each other I’m sure, through this podcast you have been such a positive addition to the thousands others of us who are dumb enough to try to listen to all 1,001 (1,089) just as much as the music itself.

Pretentious
You can tell how old these guys are. They are fanboy of everything 90s alt, and don’t seem to get lots of stuff they didn’t listen to while in high school /college. And they are so sure of themselves as music critics, but it comes off as pretentious and snarky. And stop drinking on mic

Great idea for a podcast
I would give it five stars, but please stop pouring drinks and putting ice into glasses in the microphones!!!!!

Yikes 😕
Another reviewer used the word “smug” and that’s unfortunately accurate. I was looking forward to listening to people excited and curious about music but the energy/vibe/attitudes of the hosts was really disappointing

For the low ratings change your playback speed
For those users complaining about Birch’s stumbling while reading I believe he has intentionally slowed down their playback speed, listening at 1.25 sounds “normal”

Not Very Interesting
These folks have their opinions. No problem. But they’re also pretty smug, which seems unwarranted for the poor reading and pronunciation skills they have.

Can he read??
Can the host not read?? Why is he stumbling and stammering over the album descriptions? Other than that, it’s a good time

Always looking forward to the next episode
The fact that these one star reviews are upset because either, they don’t agree with their analysis’, or “they’re obnoxious“. If you read the description, it says FRIENDS discussing these albums, not musical professors setting out to piss off older men that think that Blonde on Blonde was the pinnacle of music. That’s the charm behind it.

Great podcast to listen to as you play along
There’s a website (https://1001albumsgenerator.com) where you get assigned a random record from “1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die” every day and can leave a review of it and I have been doing that and really enjoying it, and this podcast really complements that activity. When I get assigned a record, I listen to it and jot down my thoughts and then search “1001” and the album title and listen to what these yahoos think about it.
I disagree with a lot of their opinions but they are fairly well thought out and rarely ever knee-jerk and dismissive. They mostly try to honestly engage with the music and make an effort to appreciate it (except for the loud drunk guy) even if it’s not really their thing.
I have to echo every other reviewer in saying that hearing the guy that reads the album descriptions at the beginning takes me back to English class where you were dreading when it’s the illiterate kid’s turn to read because you experience secondhand embarrassment from hearing him struggle through his assigned paragraph.
But those quibbles aside, this is a very good podcast and if you like listening to people talk about music then you might really enjoy it.

Not Insightful
Beavis and Butthead talk about music. Yawn.

Illiteracy on full display
I feel sure that there is *someone* on this podcast who can actually read but they continue to let a kindergarten-level reader try to spell out the texts they cite. It's so painful and embarrassing.

Just started listening but so far meh
I liked the idea of going through the albums and listening to the discussion. The guys so far seem like douchie bros who are talking about music they have little education about and all sound the same. I’ll give it a few more episodes if anything as a guide to the list but not too optimistic for improvement.

It's great
Lot of angry dentists leaving reviews for this.
As someone who's been making my way through this book for years, it's great to discover a podcast where a bunch of friends/musicians give their honest and funny reactions to these albums, whether they're indisuptable classics, obscure gems, or complete turds that should be nowhere near this book (Pacific Ocean Blue, Trafalgar, etc). It's also great that the podcast is short and concise, allowing me to binge it fairly quickly. I will continue to listen to see if the group realizes that the person they call "Rob" isn't real and just a collective hallucination brought on by too much whiskey.

It's great
Lot of angry dentists leaving reviews for this.
As someone who's been making my way through this book for years, it was great to discover a podcast where a bunch of friends and musicians give their honest reactions to these albums. The podcast is at it's best when they discover something amazing they've never heard before, or bitterly complain about some of the more bewildering picks. It's also great that it's relatively short, allowing you to binge them fairly quickly.

HELLO! IS THIS THING ON?
FOUR TIMES in recent months (three to Apple, one to the podcast itself), I’ve let it be known that I can neither stream nor download ANY episode via Apple Podcasts, forcing me to listen on Spotify. Perhaps complaining here will get someone’s attention.
I’m giving the podcast ONE STAR, for the very special episode where Rob didn’t announce he was drunk.

It Grew On Me
I was listening on Spotify, now on this platform. At first I thought these guys were just some jerks criticizing the music I grew up with and loved (I’m 66). But they’re from a younger generation with a different perspective. I’ve grown to like them and I don’t get offended if they not keen on some of the albums I listened to. They’re listening with fresh ears. Now I can’t wait for the latest episode.

A Missed Opportunity
I have only listened to a handful of episodes, so perhaps I should probably listen to a few more before commenting; but like the previous reviewer I see this is a great idea that could’ve been done so much better.
While I disagree with some of your likes and dislikes (e.g., Side 3 of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is the best side of the album and Sweet Painted Lady is probably one of Elton’s and Bernie’s best songs ever), it really has nothing to do with that. The commentary just isn’t very insightful nor well researched at all.
With Peter Gabriel (“Car”) you start off by making a thoughtful observation about his successfully transitioning away from progressive rock, but then ramble on nonsensically about “his moving away from prog and the remaining members of Genesis moving away from prog, so why didn’t they just stay together”…blah, blah, blah…as if that was the reason why Gabriel left the band in the first place. A little more deeper dive into the music and a little less random commentary would serve this podcast well.

Morning Zoo Album Reviews
I’ve listened to 15 of these episodes across genres and years- some are more painful than others. I own the book that the podcast is based on. My take is the host who starts the podcast is an insightful guy, but the crew behind him lacks across the board. Everyone appears to be fairly close in age and my guess is they weren’t alive when the majority of the records were released. There are a few tidbits of interesting notes here and there, though they are for the most part obscured in juvenile banter similar to what you’d hear on a Morning Zoo radio program - only with more F-Bombs.

Fun Podcast
These people make me laugh. I pick and choose which episodes to listen to based on my musical taste. I often learn new tidbits, which is cool. I can’t wait for them to talk about Sting/Police REM and Sade.

Disappointing
It’s a great concept, ineptly handled. The emphasis seems to be whether the discussants LIKE the albums rather than their contribution or history. The conversation often begins with sweeping pronouncements about how much the folks dislike a whole genre. The banter is annoying, and the commentary is juvenile. I don’t like every album on the list, but there are reasons each holds a place on the list. It would be great to have a different cast of characters tackle this topic.

Awful
Thought I’d check out their episode on “blonde on blonde” and their idiocy was too much to take I was only able to stomach about 2 minutes of their potato brained comments before I deleted these fools. Beware

Who are these losers?
Giggly losers. So stuck in their own time frames. Politically correct. Forget them.

Good idea, needs more research
I really like the idea for the podcast, going through the 1001 albums book, but these guys say so many inaccurate things throughout these episodes. Really needs to be better researched.

Solid good listen.
Great and insightful conversation on a plethora of iconic albums. The audio quality bugs me a bit, but the content trumps the production quality! Solid podcast for ANY music lover.

Like...like...like
Interested in the discussion but they use the verbal crutch “like” too much. Really distracting.

Awesome listening
Great podcast from music fans with taste.

Worst music podcast ever
Shallow, uninformed and obnoxious... There are so many other music based podcasts worth seeking out that actually have something to say, rather than listening to this trio of jerks who don't know anything about music, sharing empty insights and shallow, unenlightened judgements between fits of self satisfied laughter at witty remarks which are totally lacking in wit. The worst music podcast I've ever heard...and I've heard a lot of them. Try Sodajerker or Walking the Floor with Chris Shifflet, just to name two off the top of my head. Anything but these buffoons.

Whoo boy....
This is a throw away podcast... Lambda Lambda Lambda talks with an air of authority on highly regarded albums without doing any real research. The whole thing comes off as kneejerking about music that they've never taken the time to explore.
Two episodes discussing work by The Who, and Pete Townshend's name is pronounced "Town-shend". Nobody makes the effort to correct.
Jon Lord's work with Deep Purple on Machine Head is dismissed as "too much organ by the organ player". Yikes.
Bill Bruford's Five Percent For Nothing should have been left off of Yes's Fragile because Bruford clearly doesn't know how to write music? I think King Crimson, U.K., and Bruford fans might have something to say about that.
Honestly, these kids today....

The poor reviews are unwarranted
No, I don’t agree with all of the opinions expressed by the team (a somewhat revolving team) but I very much appreciate what they are doing. It is difficult to stick with a podcast past the first year and they have done that and more. And their enthusiasm level remains high. I also appreciate the perspective of the team members who are musicians.
The podcast does lose points because of intermittent insufficient or selective research. For example the episode on Happy Trails missed the boat on “why” the disc is important as well as failing to examine the status of John Cipollina as a major influence on guitarists between 1968-75. They did a lousy job on Sandy Denny and Richard Thompson during the Fairport Convention discs, but surprised me with the overall excellent calibre of analyses for Unhalfbricking & Liege and Lief. The team was very short of knowledge regarding the particularly British aspect of Piper at the Gates of Dawn, as well as with Nick Drake’s discs.
On the other hand I found their discussion of the John Barleycorn album quite refreshing. You know, it is a pretty boring disc. They are also correct in criticising Tony Iommi’s unimaginative leads while lauding the overall power of his riffs. I guess what I like best is how the team is not entirely predictable. An example is when the Forever Changes came up. I was worried, but they did a fantastic job. Hard to believe the band Love is not in the R&RHOF, esp given Love was a multiracial band in 1966-67. Those rumours about Jan Wenner’s enmity are probably true.

Uninformed, and worse — boring!
Stereotypical bros talking stereotypical bro opinions. You can literally guess when seeing the title what they will like and dislike, given how closely they hew to acceptable opinion. Don’t bother.

Justice 4 Getz/Gilberto
Let’s put it this way; prior to being told to listen to this podcast, I had plenty of space on my phone, money in the bank, and the capacity to love Stan Getz & João Gilberto’s iconic 1964 album without a goddamn worry. Now I’m constantly adding hours of music to my collection and constantly fighting the urge to spend what very little money I have at local record shops. So, thanks for that.
(Ignore the mountains of paperwork you have to get through at the office and listen podcast)

If you love music check out this podcast!
The hosts and guests know what they are talking about in a approachable way. The episodes are short, digestible with music snippets and album facts. It's a great companion piece to the book.
