AI voice acting
Love the show and long time subscriber, but i will unsubscribe if I hear another AI voice acting episode. Really disappointing to see this choice being made instead of hiring one cheap actor or doing the voicing yourself. It’s not just that I know Roifield cares about jobs and people, but that listening to AI voices is really, really, really boring. Love your work Roifield, but please consider this🙏

Biased
Completely biased toward the producer’s worldview and value system. To the point where it’s just not accurate history. That halfway through the segment on Ronald Reagan end just couldn’t listen any longer.

Great history
I really enjoy this podcast. The subjects are interesting and the host speaks well with a nice pace. I’ve listened to all the episodes and find myself repeating them!

Extraordinary content
I’ve followed the show for a couple of years now and continue to feel amazed by the depth of its content. Most of all, the presentation of the information is portrayed in a unique way, combining facts, historial context, analysis, and archival material of key speeches - that makes it very appealing to me. I’ve learned so much! Inviting different experts/narrators to cover each President also helps create a distinct feeling to each episode. I’m always so excited when a new episode comes out. Thanks, Royfield Brown

....Through the Liberal Lens
This would be truth in advertising for your subtitle; The False Flag narrative that you were taught & regurgitate is less appealing that Hard Truth base on Fact.

Has potential, but needs much
This podcast has great information. It’s just exceedingly boring. It has such potential but needs a lot of work.

Excellent content, horrible production
I assume they did this on purpose because the guest host I'm listening to (Dan Carlin) has ridiculously high standards of recording and engineering, yet on this podcast it sounds like it's recorded inside a beer can. Again, excellent content but this recording style makes it all but unbearable to hear. Do better please.

hmmm
take a scroll down - notice how every review pre 2016 (wink wink) fails to mention “trashing of the right” or “partisanship” i sincerely don’t understand. none of the presidents covered have an ilk near alignment of any modern political party in the united states. please stop trying to overlay your bad modern political sensibilities onto those of the past, who were likely much more adept at recognizing such patterns than you do. good luck.

Fantastic!
This was a very informative podcast with the one and only Dan Carlin mixed in with great background clips and theatrical music. Well done. As a long time listener of Hardcore History, I found this podcast refreshing.

Jazz. Wow
Tried listening to the Carlin/Nixon episode, but the music was at volume 10 along with voice at volume 10. The result was literally unlistenable. Good content, but had to turn it off after 20 minutes (and that was torture). Sorry guys.

Excellent American history
Great hosts with a variety of styles makes this podcast both fun and unique to me. Great job man, keep up the good work!

Good content, bad organization of podcast
Overall I love this podcast and it’s deep dive into the history through the lens of each of these presidents. My only criticism is that the podcasts are not organized in a simple way that helps me find the right chronological view. It would be helpful if I could go through the podcasts as the presidents took office - Washington podcast > Jefferson podcast > Monroe podcast > …

Music stinks
Interesting stuff but that background music is very ill conceived. Takes away from the content. Bad idea

Soundtrack is a total distraction
Overall I really enjoy this content, however, the continuous and intrusive soundtrack sort of ruins the experience. In most cases the narrator is competing with the soundtrack volume. Sadly once the bizarre soundtrack gets in your ear, you can’t get it out. What a colossal disappointment!

Unique and fun
Episodes can vary quite different from one another. So just because you loved 1 does not mean you will like another. But the variety and different experiences and stories is actually what made me a big fan. From the different historians telling tales to the crossover with Twilight Histories. Great pod for the history buff wanting something slightly offbeat.

Tune in for right trashing
I’m retired, and this podcast is a waste of my time. If I want to listen to the 200,000th podcast host who thinks he is going to be original by trashing the right, I’ll tune in. As it happens I do not want to listen to a partisan podcast so I’m taking my ears elsewhere. If you want a neutral, well-researched and presented podcast about the American presidency, listen to The American President hosted by Richard Lim.

A mess with some nuggets
The actual podcasts that address the supposed subject matter have interesting content with an annoying background music added for some reason. A bunch of unrelated podcasts that you should skip. Posting time with new content is horrible and content is uneven with for example two podcasts on Lincoln without ever getting to his presidency.

Like WaPo’s Presidential Podcast but way better
If you enjoyed the Washington Post’s Presidential podcast series in 2016, give this one a go. Instead of looking at the lives of the presidents in isolation and out of context, this series gives you a real sense of the place and space in American history when the presidents were in power. If the WaPo series was a quippy weekly column, this podcast is a long form meticulously researched Atlantic article. The period music is fantastic, the bits of speeches and broadcasts add depth and color, the research is excellent, and the audio quality/editing is great. Awesome podcast. PS If you happen to be studying for the AP US History exam... this might just be your ticket to a 5.

Love the “celebrity historians”
What a great podcast, well made and researched. I love that you have people like Dan Carlin who is a rockstar in his own right. Can’t wait for the Reagan Part 2 episode hopefully coming out soon!

Nixon was a crook.
While listening to the broadcast on Nixon, I am shocked by the total lack of inclusion of Nixon’s dirty tricks employed throughout his political career. He was playing dirty politics long before the Watergate scandal. To praise him without including a more complete coverage of his desire to win at any cost is a disservice to your audience.

Refreshing Reflection on our Nations Leaders
Came from other Agora podcasts, and I am GLAD that I did. Wonderful series that offers interesting insights into the lives and deeds of past US presidents. Thank you for all of your hard work in putting together quality Podcast material!

Cool idea, unlistenable due to background music
This started out great with some of the greatest history podcasters. But got to Episode 3 and even Mike Duncan of History of Rome and Revolutions fame couldn’t overcome the cheesy background music. Like a bad video game with the background music on that you’d always turn off so you could concentrate but alas no such option.

No thanks
The show is from a leftist point of view and not accurate

Couldn’t careless about the music.
Apparently more than a few people don’t care for the audio mixing and background music on this podcast. I couldn’t careless about it. I understand that many historians being from academia are left wing. I can listen to them through that filter but eventually my threshold is reached. There are some decent episodes but none are so good that I’ll need to commit any more time to this podcast.

Very Educational
I thoroughly enjoy the actual episodes, however, the producer makes himself way more visible than he needs to be. He talks for several minutes at the beginning of each podcast before playing the episode - no offense but we don't actually need to hear from you, please get straight into the real content! The exhaustive self-promotion is starting to really turn me off from listening to the show.

American History Done Right
This show does a really great job and providing a much needed look at what makes a good President. They hosts do not shy away from the ugly side if the individuals. Thank you for all the hard work put into this podcast.

FDR
Really enjoyed the podcast on FDR...WW1 through WWII is my favorite period of history.

Informative, but nix the music
Very well done, and I’m learning a lot, but the music is unnecessary, and is often syrupy and melodramatic.

Fantastic!
Great topics, great guests.

Very good
I'll listen to anything that has Dan Carlin or Mike Duncan and when I finished those episodes I found that a lot of the others are good as well I would definitely recommend it

One of the Good Ones
Good hosts, extremely lush production, candy for your ears.

Fantastic podcast about young Abraham Lincoln. I learned a lot! Highly recommend!

Music
Music in the background is distracting and doesn’t add to the narration.

Brings History Alive!!!
I love this podcast. It is produced in an interesting, fast paced and infomative way that brings history alive. I appreciate background music in that it sets a nice mood for the podcast. This podcast is time well spent for anyone who appreciates history. Great job!!!

Mostly very good.
I really enjoyed the Grant presidency. The Election of 1800 was also very good but the commentator refers to the fact that the people “didn’t have CNN (twice) or Twitter back then”… Is that what he listens to for his news facts? It’s my opinion that both of those sites have very severe (bias) problems and are almost farcical news feeds. He might as well have referenced that the national Inquirer wasn’t available.

Great content, HORRIBLE music
I’ve listened to two episodes, and love the content- but can not decide whether to continue because the background music is horrible. It’s grating, anxiety-inducing and distracting. Was hoping to see from reviews that it got changed in future episodes- but I can’t really tell.

Great Podcast
Don’t be scared off by the length of the episodes. They fly by.

Great content but way too much production
Please tone down the music and voiceovers!

A MUST for any US History enthusiasts!
Amazing storytellers telling amazing stories, what’s not to love? Fantastic podcast! Roifield, your appreciative US listeners thank you for this great show.

Loose the cheesy music
Mike Duncan is outstanding as per all of his work. I am not sure what they were thinking by putting all that noise in the background. It doesn’t work for me. Cheers M

Excellent Resource for Knowledge and Entertainment
This podcast series is an absolute gem. Following the 2016 presidential election I was looking for podcasts to deepen my knowledge on the U.S. presidency and stumbled upon this and was hooked. Roifield brings a really unique and sincere perspective to the topic (he's English) and applies top-notch production value to help the listener enter into each episode. There are great contributions by guests and interesting side subjects explored beyond the designated presidents. My wife is not American and not particularly interested in American history but she has enjoyed the learning about the fascinating lives discussed. I haven't found another podcast resource quite like this one and I truly hope that Roifield extends the series well beyond 10 presidents.

Please Remaster Nixon
I just listened to the program on Nixon and it was great! I was glad to hear Nixon's story told fairly, in detail, with lots of actualities, by the brilliant Dan Carlin. I wish the program could be remasteed without the irritating music bed under Mr. Carlin's narration. It was really distracting and added nothing to the experieince. This has not deterred me from downloading several mor programs, and I look forward to learning a lot while enjoying the podcast.

Great audio
Awesome amount of real recordings. Highly recommeded.

Uneven - The Music is often a distraction
The narrative is generally fine, but the background music is often too loud and distracts from the content rather than enhancing it. This is especially true with the FDR Podcast which is almost "unlistenable" because the narration is almost drowned out by unecessary music which could no longer be called "background." Also, the 1st several minutes of each podcast is self promotion. Some of that is fine - even necessary - however, I think this goes a little overboard.

Great History and an AudioTreat
Roilfield really draws you into the world of a president with his period music and voice performances, and then gets a speaker who knows and loves the subject to provide a fascinating and nuanced life on a man who shaped the USA.
