Delightful look at a variety of great games
1 Forward is one of my favorite podcasts. Rich and Rach are very knowledgable about Powered by the Apocalypse and they have really interesting guests come to talk about their games. The vibe of the show is kind and helpful. I feel like I want to try every game they talk about. Also Rich’s voice is just… real dang comforting.

Good discourse on PbtA games
Two fun and knowledgeable hosts interview Powered by the Apocalypse (PbtA) game designers and have a short little actual play session of the game. They also dive into aspects of PbtA games and analyze a few movies to see how you could recreate them in PbtA games. I’ve bought and played many a game that I first heard about on this show.

A Podcast by the Apodcalypse
+1 Forward is an interesting show. When you start getting involved in PbtA games, there's almost this overwhelming desire to figure out how it all works and start evaluating it. You want to see what other games do, how far the design philosophy can be pushed. +1 Forward does just that, and in a way that makes you feel like you always had the answer with you. It brings material to you and helps talk through these games in a way that really shows you what's going on and mostly lets you take your own conclusions from it, and I greatly appreciate that.

The best podcast for learning Powered by the Apocalypse
When starting design on my first full TTRPG, I needed a system that could handle the way I wanted the game to play. Not having heard much more than D20 based games, I was intrigued by Powered by the Apocalypse and the conversational style of play. This is what I've been looking for, I thought, but I know next to nothing about PbtA! This is where +1 Forward comes into play. I binged this podcast hard and learned an immense deal from it about PbtA without having ever played a single game! I actually wrote up a lengthy pre-alpha version of my game, Chimera, from the lessons learned here and the things I was beginning to understand in the various books I purchased. And now I keep refining things for the better because of the amazing advice that this podcast is known for. If you are new to PbtA and are interested in the system, you need to listen to this podcast. If you are a player of PbtA games and want to learn about many of the other games out there, you need to listen to this podcast. Even if you are a veteran of PbtA games, you need to listen to this podcast! It's just that good. Rich (and in season two, Rach) bring an excellent dive into this game system and I strive to listen as soon as I can when a new episode releases.

Hopefully this one will be +1 Ongoing for a while...
One of my favorite RPG podcasts. I adore Apocalypse World and its descendants, and love hearing about the development of those games and the designers behind them; the general discussion are a particular favorite, though, with solid advice on how to both be a better player and a better game master. Rich and Rach have a great rapport and an infectious enthusiasm.

One of my favorites
Rich and Rach are so on point in the general discussion episodes, and the game-by-game episodes always contain fascinating conversation.

Explore The Apocalypse
Their general play and advice episodes are great, but for me the real gems are the PbtA Game overviews. This podcast is a great primer on the various Apocalypse Engine games. A must listen. Recommend for fans of Actual People/Actual Play, The Play Better Podcast, and Tabletop Radio Hour.

Great Show with Superb Pacing
This is a great show that talks about the wide variety of PbtA games with the games' creators that also manages to fit in a wonderfully succinct example of play through a one-scene AP for each game - and all in a 30-45 minute wrapper! If you have any interest in games that are Powered by the Apocalypse, this show is a wonderful way into to get a better understanding of how the system works and what it can do.

Great tour of PbtA and great advice
This show is an invaluable resource for getting to know what's what in the world of Powered by the Apocalypse games. The first series of episodes deals with games one at a time, offering some insight into what makes each game special, as well as a play sample that shows the game in action. As the show has gone on, new episode formats came out that explored related topics in depth, offering advice on how to make the game run better at your own table. It's a must listen for anyone who is interested in the breadth PbtA has to offer, and for anyone who wants to take their game to the next level.

Indispensable For PbtA Advice
This show is almost required listening for those looking to get into Powered By The Apocalypse (PbtA) game design. The hosts talk to prominent game designers about their work and have themed episodes covering topics related to this specific build of games. Each episode sheds some cool insight into the game or topic and it’s super cool to get a peek behind the curtain on the type of games I love the most. As a designer working on a PbtA game it’s invaluable.

"Principles and Genre" is a gem.
It should be mandatory listening for any PbtA facilitator. The podcast has a lot to recommend it, but this is a classic episode.

Covers PbtA games themselves but some general game design as well
Over the last years I've learned to love many Powered by the Apocalypse (PbtA) games at various game conventions. Dungeon World is my favorite, and covered in amazingly great detail in the Discern Realities podcast, a podcast in the same family as this one, produced by The Gauntlet. This podcast is the best one in bringing new and old PbtA games to me. I love that the designers are interviewed and give insight into the way they designed and thought about mechanics and gameplay, and that almost every episode ends in a little bite-sized actual play, where we get to hear the system being used and run by the designers themselves. Highly recommended if you like PbtA games and also are into game design at any level.
