An inspiring story of an inspiring athletic feat
Told by the talented and renowned sports writer Neil Amato, this story of the East Chapel Hill High School basketball team’s run for the state champion makes the Hoosiers look like child’s play.
If you follow basketball or sports in general, this is the podcast for you.

Well done multilayered story
The story of winning the championship is great enough but the rabbit trail stories and the focus on certain individuals makes this podcast better than most.
Very well produced also.

Well done!
As podcast go this is extremely well done and very professional. To take a subject from a very long time ago and make it timely relevant and entertaining is impressive. It has been so much fun to listen to each episode. I find myself saying when will the next one come out. Keep up the good work!

Great Podcast
Thanks so much for bringing this story back to life! I was at that game my 8th grade year. I went to East the following year. The first year with all four grades. Chris Hobbs will always be a Chaprl Hill legend!

What a fun ride!
The team EXCITED, the parents, the school and the community excited!! The gym had to add bleachers to seat everyone!! SO MUCH ENERGY, we shook the buildings with all our foot stamping and yelling! Even away games, many of us followed the team!!

Great story, great podcast
For transparency purposes, I know Neil, but I would listen to this even if I didn’t. It involves many things that are near and dear to me: basketball, Chapel Hill and a great backstory. Have a listen if you are a fan of any one of those three things (especially if you are a fan of all three) and I guarantee you will enjoy.

Context
The best podcasts tell stories by providing context. This one gets that. Neil Amato has been talking about this story fir years. He knows it forwards and backwards. Great work.

Great Once-In-A-Lifetime Basketball Story
Great storytelling of a completely improbably season of high school basketball by Neil Amato! A brand new school (East Chapel Hill High School) in 1996-97 winning a state basketball championship when not a single soul believed beforehand that they would - incredible. Amato, a sports reporter who covered the team during their playoff run and had a first-hand perspective of this amazing season, captures this story many years later with great accuracy, drawing on interviews from previous players, coaches, opposing players and coaches, and many others who were witness to the season. Very fascinating!

A must listen for basketball fans
If you want to learn something about sports, and catch some seriously contagious positive energy and enthusiasm, Neil Amato is a name to know. I’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of this podcast. Even though I have been lucky enough to have learned a little bit about the East Chapel High School first year basketball story, I am eager to get the full picture from a master storyteller whose head and heart for sports is unrivaled. Rest in Peace, Chris Hobbs. Watching Chris play for Clemson always blew me away with his talent and hustle. Just a joy on the court and an incredible blend of power and athleticism. 1,2,3....Wildcats!!!!!!

Incredible story
Hey, I'm biased: I was a part of this team. But it really IS a great story. And to have Neil Amato, a talented and detailed sports reporter, brings it all back to life after more than 23 years is incredible. Thank you Neil for all your hard work on this project! If you are a fan of high school hoops there is no way you won't thoroughly enjoy this podcast.
