Show notes
Alissa Henry co-hosts Ohio Lottery’s Cash Explosion tv show and co-hosts lifestyle tv show Good Day Marketplace both air on Fox 28. She always knew that she wanted to become a journalist. Her passion for performing and hosting was ignited during her high school days, where doing announcements served as an inspiration that led her to fall in love with this field.
Hosting Cash Explosion instantly became her dream job. Years ago, she uploaded her demo reel on YouTube which led to several meetings that ultimately led to being selected to host Cash Explosion. Cash Explosion is the longest-running state lottery-based game show.
Social media journalists vs college educated journalists.
Her and her husband got engaged in front of a Cold Stone Creamery! Speaking of ice cream, have you ever wondered how many servings are in a pint? We love chatting about Dairy Queen blizzards, Culver's mix-ins, and Cold Stone creations.
Almond M&M’s and tortilla chips are her go to munchies.
Unpopular food opinions Alissa doesn’t like seafood and she loves Romeo’s Pizza and their sweet sauce.
Top 3 restaurants in Columbus, Ohio according to Alissa are Brassica, TAT, and Scali’s for their delicious Italian food and pasta dishes, and Third & Hollywood.
Most expensive restaurant she’s had is RH at Easton, it’s a rooftop restaurant on top of Restoration Hardware. French fries were 18 dollars! The food was so expensive she couldn’t even taste it.
Film feast, Alissa shares her favorite food moments in cinema, and Soul Food (film) and Sex and the City (tv) take center stage.
Melted cheese is better than cheese sauce. TGI Friday's restaurant in Aruba had the most loaded nachos ever. Alissa never heard of birria tacos, so I suggested she try my favorite option in Columbus, Los Agaves food truck in Clintonville, Ohio.
Shelf cooking or reverse meal prep. Restaurant reviews and the importance of being honest in your opinions without being harsh or mean. I share my approach to reviewing restaurants and how I strive to be as objective and honest as possible. The topic of tagging restaurants in negative reviews also comes up, which Alissa said is kind of wild, what do you think? 614 feast podcast is based in Columbus, Ohio and this episode is available on my website, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, etc.
