When Jesus first began teaching during His public ministry, he was given the scroll of Isaiah and he opened to this famous passage:“The Spirit of the Lord us on me,because he has anointed meto proclaim good news to the poor.He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisonersand recovery of sight to the blind,to set the oppressed freeto proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke Luke is setting this up as Jesus’ mission statement for His public ministry.
