Welcome to the sewing room and the start of something amazing for our projects this spring.

Audio recording by the Countess.

hey guys welcome to the sewing room i'm going i've decided to make a kimono um with and film it because i i thought everyone can make a kimono a beginner when i say everyone i mean everyone you know you could make one by hand even but i just think it'd be a really lovely project for us to do so we're going to do a quilted kimono and i'll start later on today now i've got a i've got the cut out but we'll talk about pattern cutting how to make the pattern and and where to start with the sewing and the cutting of the fabric i'm going to

think about a theme for it so i'd thought about war and peace i quite like this idea actually funny enough it's obviously on my mind because i'm serializing the book on another podcast on the full bloom podcast actually so you might want to pop over there and and have a listen i i try to read more in peace once actually i try to read it on a video and i made so many mistakes like you know reading mistakes stuttering and such like that it wasn't even worth editing

because it would have taken me you know hours to edit it it's very difficult to read something like you know war and peace the writing was really small for a start that doesn't help because you're sort of squinting and the the lines especially if you're half blind like i am the lines overlap and they make it quite hard to read out loud you really need a big print version but this version was really fat already i mean a big print version would have been you know the size of a chest of drawers probably so um but the other thing is it was it it was difficult to read um in terms of you know the structure of the sentences and what have you it didn't flow particularly well and i really want to hear it so i'm serializing it and that um i'm i'm not reading it our

colleagues over at um librivox are reading it if you want to have a listen to that we're on chapter eight um but you can listen to all the others and they're quite easy to find i think if you just put in uh to the search engine on that podcast so that's um full bloom that's called okay um anyway i like the idea of a sort of period drama so i think i'm going to go for the the war and peace um title but think a little bit out of the box you know i mean i don't want dead bodies but perhaps skulls on one side of the kimono um lots of skulls i think that really work

and perhaps lots of fire um so i'll work with you know the elements so it's kind of wind and fire more aggressive and then on the on on the um the other side the peace side more nature and sunshine and perhaps some water although water can be quite aggressive but it just depends i suppose how you do the waves doesn't it so there'll be a lot of that going on and i'll create i'm going to be creating pictures from chopping up other fabrics there won't all be fabric pictures that i've found it's going to be slightly different to the other ones that i've done i'm really excited about it i think it's going to be great fun so do join me later today and we'll talk about

that i need to find um ways of setting up the camera a bit better in the you know when we're doing the videos because at the moment you know holding it by hand isn't really working i can't do anything so i need to change that so yeah the war and peace kimono how very exciting um i went out last night and i i had a realization that i'm no longer going outy person i i'm quite happy not to go out uh it was really loud and there was a quiz night it was just a bit chaotic you know i i don't think that i'm ever going out again i just think i'm never going to that bar again it was just way too much and but i also realized that i've become quite an introvert

and i've you know my days of being this sort of extrovert frivolous um socialite type individual is com...
