hello listeners welcome to the royal clarence hub the hub of art and music that's the mood i'm in today it was one of those weekends actually i was working so hard on my prototypes for the bra and a couple of things went wrong because when you're designing something um you really should use a real human if you're designing well whatever you're designing actually even if you're designing you know anything that requires a human to engage with it you have to do a test run as it were so the the clothes were coming off and on and off and on and the bubage was flying about the place everywhere and you know i'm i'm not typically sized so when you're making a prototype that it's going to be if there's no you see with a brassiere there is no one
size fits all i'm afraid it's uh it has to be adjustable that's the one thing i've decided it's all very well making something that fits me made to measure which is a very easy thing to do isn't it because i'm here with with everything asunder and and measuring and trying on over and over again but i'm not typical because there is no such thing my friends let me tell you as a typical woman we're all quite unique sometimes by millimeters but usually by inches let me tell you so um i was you know really crazy busy and things were going wrong and i said why is this wrong i've learned so much about um recycling because i wanted to make the bra 100 recycled and even recyclable but certainly recycled and not pre-worn that or pre-loafed that that's kind of different because what i'm doing is i'm taking lots of different fabrications putting them all
together and really i suppose you what you could say is i'm sculpting something but it turns out that you know all fabrics are different just as all women are different so all fabrics have you know the waft and the i can't remember what the other word is the the way that the stitching goes it creates stretch um i mean i'm complete novice really when it comes to the technical side of stitching i've stitched all my life but i've been very much in that way that so many women are um a repairer a repairer of damage so so we're all really good at darling socks and taking things up and sewing up school uniforms and putting on labels and all this sort of thing um of course i've met i used to dress my kids before they before my children were of an age where they'd say what are you making me wear um when they were still little beauties who did exactly as they were told more or less i made all their clothes for all their um their fancy dress things and uh you know their school parties or whatever once they get to prom age they don't
want they no longer want a mums you know made thing out of pillowcases of course they want something much grander but for you get about sort of i'd say about ten years of um being able to make your child's clothes without complaint and in fact they're you know they're very keen to model one's parental creations that'll pass this let me tell you for sure for sure even now i think my when i make something for myself if i've got an event or something i make something uh i can see that my children are looking at each other and thinking what an earth is she wearing and it's a sad sad state to be in i must say but you know i'm an artist so i'm digressing of course now the the weekend the week rather was so incredibly busy and the weekend was even busier and i was thinking yesterday as i as you know settle down i thought i'm absolutely bloody exhausted today and i or tonight...
