According to the CDC, more than 50% of people will be diagnosed with some type of mental illness or disorder in their lifetime. The also state that 1 in 5 adults will experience a mental illness in a given year and 1 in 25 of adults are living with a significant mental illness such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or major depressive disorder. (<a href="https://www.cdc.gov/mentalhealth/learn/index.htm">CDC Stats</a>) 
 
Words Are is based on the photo essay of the same name and the goal is to help people overcome the stigma related to mental illness and to help show the importance of connection and community.
