Tara Meyer is the Program Manager, Northern Alberta Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.

Cardiac Rehabilitation is a fundamental component of the cardiac care continuum and is vital to creating positive and sustainable health outcomes for individuals with heart disease through secondary prevention. The Northern Alberta Cardiac Rehabilitation Program (NACRP) serves patients from Alberta Health Services’ Central Zone and North Zone, northern British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. The NACRP functions out of two main sites, one of which is the Jim Pattison Centre for Heart Health located in the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute.

Multidisciplinary team members work with patients and families to understand how best to lead an active and healthy lifestyle through focusing on diet, supervised exercise sessions, and other cardiovascular risk reduction activities.

As a program manager, Tara’s staff see patients will all kinds of heart conditions.

Tara believes in the program and has seen how the rehabilitation program helps people move on from heart disease, get back to work, and back to their lives. This year, many of their programs have had to shift to offer virtual support so they can continue to support their patients in their recovery.
