Today’s episode is a conversation with Benjamin Burg from Poland and originally the USA. It was one of those conversations that was rich in history, meaning, and weaving threads together to create a sense of a 6 Star journey. For Benjamin, education is not just about learning: the 6 Star way to learning is actually to pass it on.. share it with others, and take note of our environmental messages and cues as well. He’s creating opportunities for people to get involved in community programs, and actively making an impact in different ways. He’s a wonderful person whom I thoroughly enjoyed talking to.Here’s a summary of what we discussed:06:56 - his greatest teacher was his sister, Bethany13:07 - the Polish connection18:51 - learning about the living earth26:00 - the Ukrainian students open house27:00 - the Gardening Project30:50 - teaching critical thinking33:25 - the required shift in the education system40:08 - riding the wave of technology, connection and change46:55 - the paradox of teacher’s impactand much more…Enjoy! Here’s some information about our guest:Benjamin Burg, Founder of Trips Beyond the ClassroomOver the past twenty years, I have taught in a wide range of environments, from inner-city public high schools in Philadelphia, corporate sales training in Eastern Europe, a middle school teacher in Pre-IB Language Arts, American History and Ecology in Warsaw, Poland. So many stories. One of the best, my European students teasing me about how young is the American’s history. Then while we were exploring lava tubes in western New Mexico, we discovered a 1000 year old Native American water ritual pot. We touched history that afternoon.
