Following his career teaching mathematics in Iowa, Jim Riggs settled near a beach in the mild climate of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. He spends much of his time writing short stories and finishing his manuscript, “Fannie,” creative biographical non-fiction about the life of his grandmother. His first novel, Freedom Run, drew rave reviews from readers.

His writing group, Island Writers Network, has given him opportunities to tune his stories during workshops and share his words at open mics. Jim’s poetry and prose has appeared in three IWN anthologies.
