Our passage today continues some of the big themes of Hebrews: The Gospel is the culmination of what God and his redemptive history has been pointing to all along and Jesus is better than . . .  In this chapter, Moses. We also have another strong exhortation for apparent believers to examine where they are with Jesus:  "Consider Jesus" (ESV, NASB) or "Fix your eyes on Jesus" (NIV) and hold fast to your faith.  Those in unbelief (v. 12, 19) are just fooling themselves by squatting in a house that they're not truly a part of. Strong evidence of the security of one truly saved:35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.The Holy Bible: English Standard Version.
