50,000 fans jammed into Yankee Stadium on May 19, 1929 to watch the Murderers' Row strongmen play the Red Sox in a double header. It was a fine Sunday afternoon until the fifth inning of the first game when a rainstorm brought the action to a murderous end. The storm brought such a panic to the fans to get out of the stadium that they kept pushing and pushing, causing a stampede. Two people were trampled to death and 62 other fans were injured. For more information visit https://www.49sfastball.com/podcast/stampede-at-yankee-stadium/
