Hoyt Wilhelm didn’t really look like a war hero, a home run hitter, or even a big-time pitcher, but there was greatness within. He threw a mean knuckle ball and pitched in 1070 games, a record that wasn't broken until just 20 years ago and is still 6th on the list. On April 23, 1952, Wilhelm excelled in batting as well when he hit the first and only home run of his career. For more information visit www.49sfastball.com
