The San Francisco 49ers returned to the field for Day 17 of 2025 NFL Training Camp — a day filled with a blockbuster trade, standout quarterback play, and a scare involving their star left tackle:
- 49ers trade for Chiefs WR Skyy Moore, sending a 6th-round pick in exchange for Moore and a 7th. Moore saw limited work in practice but adds depth to a WR room hit hard by injuries.
- Brock Purdy was locked in, going 16-for-21 with pinpoint accuracy, including a red-zone touchdown to Christian McCaffrey and a perfect deep strike to George Kittle.
- Trent Williams gave everyone a scare, going down twice during team drills before finishing practice and saying he was fine.
- Ricky Pearsall spoke on the rash of WR injuries, calling them “definitely not normal,” while DeMarcus Robinson was limited and may be dealing with his own issue.
- Roster moves: 49ers signed QB Tanner Mordecai, released Nate Sudfeld, and officially placed CB Tre Brown on Injured Reserve. RB Corey Kiner reverted back to IR.
- Other notes: Isaac Guerendo flashed as a pass-catching weapon but fumbled late in practice, Marques Sigle and Jason Pinnock rotated at safety, and Jake Moody went 3-for-5 on field goals.
- We cover all the top takeaways, depth chart battles, injury updates, and roster moves from Day 17 of 49ers Training Camp in Santa Clara.
