Pastor Wesley Dixon, of United Methodist Church of New Lenox, used to work with Christopher's wife, Kayla, at the aptly named Wesley United Methodist Church in Sterling, Illinois. He had no idea Christopher had battled alcohol addiction and gone through rehab in early 2019. After achieving his greatest accomplishment by beating Kayla at the Madison Mini Half-Marathon in August 2019, Pastor Wes helped convince Christopher to put his story out there and become an advocate for people battling addiction and mental illness.
