BEYOND – 3-DIMENSIONAL PERSPECTIVES
The focus of BEYOND is the future technology of stereoscopy, known as 3D. In June 2012 the Symposium BEYOND took place as continuation of the in May 2011 successfully conducted 3D Festival BEYOND. The world’s first international 3D Festival showed the development of 3D-gaming as well as current productions and trends in stereoscopic cinema and TV films. Installations and performances by artists in the area of 3D projection media projecting could also be seen. The festival focuses on both optical and acoustic perception. In June 2012, Karlsruhe again became the epicenter of the 3D pioneer work. It gathered the most important national and international experts and innovators of stereoscopic 3D, such as Wim Wenders, Keith Cunningham and Jeffrey Shaw featuring lectures to impel new contents next to application devices in the area of TV, art, science, storytelling and education within this future technology.  ///   Im Mittelpunkt von BEYOND steht die Zukunftstechnologie der Stereoskopie, bekannt als 3D. Im Juni 2012 fand im ZKM | Karlsruhe mit dem 3D-Symposium BEYOND die Fortsetzung des bereits im Mai 2011 erfolgreich durchgeführten 3D-Festivals BEYOND statt. Das weltweit erste internationale 3D-Festival zeigte aktuelle Produktionen und Trends des 3D-Gaming sowie des stereoskopischen Films in Kino und Fernsehen. Außerdem zu sehen waren Innovationen im Bereich der raumprojizierenden Medien, künstlerische Installationen und Performances. Durch die Verknüpfung mit akustischen Projektionen im Raum wurden alle Sinne beansprucht. 2012 stand Karlsruhe mit dem 3D-Symposium erneut im Brennpunkt des internationalen Experten-Know-Hows zum Thema zukunftsweisende Stereoskopie. Es versammelte über dreißig der wichtigsten nationalen und internationalen Experten und Innovatoren des stereoskopischen 3D wie Wim Wenders, Jeffrey Shaw, Volker Kuchelmeister und Keith Cunningham. Ziel des 3D-Symposiums BEYOND war es, mit Vorträgen, Diskussionen und Workshops zu den 3D-Zukunftsbereichen TV, Storytelling, Art, Science und Education neue Inhalte und Anwendungsformen für die Zukunftstechnologie zu entwickeln und weiter voranzutreiben.
