Preaching at women, especially black women, about their “failings” and shortcomings is big business. Many-a dating televangelist and pseudo guru have floated to the top with this messaging – Steve Harvey, Kevin Samuels, Iyanla Vanzant, Dr. Phil. However, it’s mostly men telling us what we should do and absolving other men of any culpability, while at the same time exploiting (some) women’s trauma and using it as social/social media currency and comeuppance.
