In this episode of the First Time Story series I was joined by Derick Lugo, the author on the Unlikely Thru-Hiker. A Brooklyn-born, New York city urbanite who hopped a trained to Georgia, then grabbed a taxi at the station and told the cab drive to drop him off at the beginning of the Appalachian Trail and set off on an adventure of a lifetime.

Derick shared the story of his first time thru-hiking the 2,200 miles Appalachian Trail. It's an incredibly inspirational story about stepping out of his comfort zones, learning about many different things and having his life changed.
