Samuel Douek is a film director, artist and entrepreneur based in London. Having trained as an Architect (The Bartlett and RCA), he began making documentaries in 2016 exploring the intersections between LGBTQ+ subcultures and the built environment, directing several mini-series for Grindr's content channel INTO such as the well-received PROLIFIC. Since then Samuel now works on music videos, commercials and fashion films. He has worked with brands including Uber, Amazon and Absolut Elyx, shooting their new bottle campaign. He has collaborated with artists including Kara Marni, AU/RA, Denai Moore and Aurora. And he has won several film festival awards for experimental documentaries JUS+ LIKE ME and STONEWALL 2069.Aside to filmmaking Samuel is a visual and performance artist and produces a number of LGBTQ+ events such as the bi-monthly club night BUM.P and the travelling queer performance and community space the CAMPerVAN which has travelled Europe bringing the wonder of LGBTQ+ visual art into a public sphere. In 2018 he was named one of the British Fashion Council's New Wave Creatives. Most recently, Samuel has founded a sex-positive community lifestyle brand and zine called HOWL with aims to break down the taboo surrounding anal sex with a range of CBD Anal Lubricants, live events, performance symposiums, limited edition merch and educational tools. The first HOWL event of 2021 will be on Saturday 30th January and will be a collaboration with the queer and trans stripping collective Harpies in the Sky.
