Comedian George Carlin once said, “ Just when I discovered the meaning of life… they changed it.” Change is inevitable. Until the past year when — like everyone else Cynthia Adler and Ellen Sherman found each day looking very much like the one before. So they started looking for something…well almost anything…to change things up.
And that’s what “ 3 Things to Change Your Week “is about. Change. It used to be that by 50 you’d better have had everything figured out. What you wanted to do, who you were going to be with, and yes, of course, the meaning of life. But 2021 is a time when not only is there a Second Act to many lives, there’s now a Third Act as well. There’s an appetite for keeping things fresh. For trying something new. Change is what energizes us. “And changing things up is just where we’re going,” says Cynthia Adler.
It could be a news story that puts a unique spin on the way you think about bad breakups. Or offers a new idea about how parents and grown children are solving their housing dilemmas. The segment, “What are You Going to be When you Grow Up?” features people doing a “180” and reinventing their careers after 50. “I, for one…“ Ellen Sherman adds, “…am still not sure what I’m going to be.”
In this episode, Cynthia and Ellen interview Gail Bruce, founder of Hipsilver, a community eager to investigate new approaches to a fulfilling life.
