Show notes

This week’s guest is someone I had the pleasure to work with occasionally as a performer. And as much as I love exploring the stories of artists of different creative background, there’s something about the theatre, about fellow theatre people, that comfort my heart and soul in a way no other art form can. So, you can imagine the excitement and happiness I felt when the opportunity presented itself to sit down with Erika and talk all things acting, theatre, beautiful opportunities presenting themselves from closed doors and the ups and downs of a career in the performing arts industry.

Erika Sanderson is a professional actor and voice actor based in Buckinghamshire. She’s been working professionally in the industry from the tender age of 17, trained Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London after studying history and English lit, and is now an award-winning voice actor. To hear her amazing voice and audio work, why not head over to some of her podcasts and give her a listen? I’ll leave you with the links to some of her podcasts and shows in the notes below!

Alongside her voice work, Erika is also involved with a lot of community theatre projects in and around Aylesbury, as well as the Unbound Theatre Company, the in-house production company of the Queens Park Arts Centre in Aylesbury, with whom she’s collaborated extensively over the years, both on stage and in audio. Go check them out – I’ll leave some links in the show notes below.

We do refer to Erika playing Beatrice in Unbound Theater’s Much Ado About Nothing earlier this summer, as we were recording this episode at the beginning of summer when rehearsals were well underway! Unbound Theatre will also release a filmed version of the play, so do head over to their socials if you wish to catch that performance.

It was such a reassuring and grounding conversation, from fellow actor-director to fellow actor-director. And I truly believe I will be always coming back to this episode whenever I feel my acting path needs a pep talk!

We hope you enjoy listening to this conversation. Do get in touch with Erika, like, follow and most importantly listen to her MASSIVE body of work - thank goodness for these shownotes and the ample space we have to share all the platforms possible :P

Happy listening!
