The Great Sparrow Campaign, also known as the Four Pests Campaign, was a major initiative launched by the Chinese government in 1958 to control the population of sparrows, rats, flies, and mosquitoes. The campaign was part of the larger Great Leap Forward, an ambitious program aimed at transforming China into a modern, industrialized nation.
